Starch and cellulose are the fundamental components of tobacco, while their excessive content will affect the quality of tobacco. Enzymatic treatment with different enzymes is a promising method to modulate the chemical composition and improve the sensory quality of tobacco leaves. In this study, enzymatic treatments, such as amylase, cellulase, and their mixed enzymes, were used to improve tobacco quality, which could alter the content of total sugar, reducing sugar, starch, and cellulose in tobacco leaves.

Many studies have indicated a strong relationship between cardiac and brain activities, both of which are sensitive to high-altitude exposure. This study combined a consciousness access task and electrocardiograms (ECG) to uncover conscious awareness in response to high-altitude exposure and its relation to cardiac activity. When compared with the low-altitude groups, the behavioral results showed that the high-altitude participants shortened the time of access to visual awareness of grating orientation, which was accompanied by a faster heart rate, excluding the influence of pre-stimulus heart rate, extent of cardiac deceleration after presenting the stimulus, and task difficulty.

This study proposes a novel and feasible dissolution and fractionation method of depectinated sugar beet pulp (SBP) in NaOH/Urea/HO, ionic liquid (IL) and alkaline treatment processes. Interestingly, the complicated structure of SBP can be treated with 30 % HSO to increase the dissolution rate. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis confirmed that the appearance of cellulose and hemicellulose obtained by two methods were different.

Visual perception and mental imagery have been shown to share a hierarchical topological visual structure of neural representation, despite the existence of dissociation of neural substrate between them in function and structure. However, we have limited knowledge about how the visual hierarchical cortex is involved in visual perception and visual imagery in a unique and shared fashion. In this study, a data set including a visual perception and an imagery experiment with human participants was used to train 2 types of voxel-wise encoding models.

To achieve high-quality sustainable development in arid areas based on the concept of ecological civilization, it is necessary to deeply study the territorial spatial structure characteristics. Taking the Aksu River Basin, an important ecological security barrier in northwest China, as an example, this paper follows the research idea of "feature analysis-suitability evaluation-conflict identification analysis-optimization" and constructs a comprehensive model based on the AHP-entropy weight comprehensive evaluation method, ArcGIS spatial identification analysis, variance coefficient-TOPSIS method, and NRCA. A comprehensive model based on the AHP-entropy power integrated evaluation method, ArcGIS spatial identification analysis, variance coefficient-TOPSIS method, and NRCA was constructed to guide the optimization of the territorial spatial layout by exploring the characteristics of territorial spatial pattern, the suitability of territorial spatial development, the identification of territorial spatial conflicts, and the efficiency and functional advantage of territorial spatial utilization in the study area.

O-GlcNAcylation is a post-translational modification that serves as a cellular nutrient sensor and participates in multiple physiological and pathological processes. However, it remains uncertain whether O-GlcNAcylation is involved in the regulation of phagocytosis. Here, we demonstrate a rapid increase in protein O-GlcNAcylation in response to phagocytotic stimuli.

Circular bio-economy is a significant approach to resolving global issues elevated by environmental pollution. The generation of bioenergy and biomaterials can withstand the energy-environment connection as well as substitute petroleum-based materials as the feed stock production, thereby contributing to a cleaner and low-carbon-safe environment. Open discarding of waste is a major cause of environmental pollution in developing and under developed countries.

Introduction: The continuous cropping of crops can result in the deterioration of the soil environment and cause a decline in plant health and yield, which complicates agricultural production. However, the effects of continuous melon cropping on rhizospheric microbial communities remain poorly understood.
Methods: In this study, high-throughput absolute quantification 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing was employed to analyze the bacterial community structure of greenhouse rhizosphere soil from Jiashi muskmelon replanted for 0, 1, 2, and 3 years (CK, 1a, 2a, and 3a, respectively).

Twenty-eight grayanane diterpenoids (1-28) including 13 new ones, named daublossomins A-M (1-13), and two new natural products, 3-O-acetylgrayanotoxin II (14) and 10-epi-grayanotoxin III (15), were isolated from the flowers of Rhododendron dauricum L. (Ericaceae). Their structures were elucidated by means of comprehensive spectroscopic methods and quantum chemical calculations (C NMR-DP4+ analysis and calculated ECD), and the absolute configurations of ten grayanane diterpenoids 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 22, 23, 25, 27, and 28 were determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis.

The development of new photocatalysts with high photocatalytic efficiency and catalytic stability, and long persisting luminescence is critical for ensuring environmental protection and clean energy production. In this study, we develop a flower-like InO/ZnGaO:Cr heterojunction composite with enhanced ultraviolet (UV) photocatalytic activity using a facile two-step hydrothermal method. The spectral response range of the heterojunction composite is widened to the visible-light range owing to the presence of the ZnGaO:Cr persistent luminescence nanoparticles with sizes of less than 10 nm.

Twenty-six structurally diverse Amaryllidaceae alkaloids, including ten undescribed compounds named zephyranines A-I and 6-O-ethylnerinine, two undescribed natural products zephyranthine-6-one and 3-O-deacetyl-sternbergine, were isolated from whole plants of Zephyranthes candida. Their structures were determined by HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR, CD data analysis, NMR and ECD calculations, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. All structures were classified into nine framework types: 10b,11-seco-crinine, graciline, crinine, homolycorine, trisphaeridine, lycorine, galasine, tazettine, and belladine.

Rapid urbanization and industrialization have brought about regional prosperity and pressure on the ecological environment, and the disorder of development has led to competition among the production-living-ecology functions. How to build livable cities, optimize the spatial layout of land, and promote the coordinated development of the production-living-ecology functions in various regions has become an important issue in the sustainable development and utilization of land space. In order to study the spatiotemporal conflict and coordination of the production-living-ecology functions with respect to the dramatic developments associated with the 21st century, this study took Hubei Province, which is the top-ranking economic region in China in recent years, as the study area and adopted the global entropy value method, triangle model, and coupled evaluation model to delineate an index system to measure the degree of conflict and coordination of the production-living-ecology functions in Hubei Province from 2000 to 2020, and also delineate zoning management based on statistical yearbook data.

Network data analysis is a crucial method for mining complicated object interactions. In recent years, random walk and neural-language-model-based network representation learning (NRL) approaches have been widely used for network data analysis. However, these NRL approaches suffer from the following deficiencies: firstly, because the random walk procedure is based on symmetric node similarity and fixed probability distribution, the sampled vertices' sequences may lose local community structure information; secondly, because the feature extraction capacity of the shallow neural language model is limited, they can only extract the local structural features of networks; and thirdly, these approaches require specially designed mechanisms for different downstream tasks to integrate vertex attributes of various types.

Fluoxetine (FLX), used in the clinic to treat depression, is a well-known cationic amphiphilic antidepressant. However, there is a lack of research on the effect of FLX on the surface behavior of lipid monolayers under different surface pressures. In this study, 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine/1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine/CHOL (DPPC/POPC/CHOL) monolayers were prepared via the Langmuir method, and FLX was added to these monolayers under various surface pressures.
