Background: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a multifactorial disorder expressed by several genes and various environmental factors apart from nutritional and endocrinological factors. Although association of iron deficiency (ID) as well as thyroid disorder has been evaluated in females, this is still an untouched topic as far as male pattern hair loss (MPHL) is concerned. This study tries to establish if any association of MPHL with ID and thyroid dysfunction.

Burn injuries are a constant threat in war. Aspects of the modern battlefield increase the risk of burn injuries and pose challenges for early treatment. The initial resuscitation of a severely burn-injured patient often exceeds the resources available in front-line medical facilities.

An ectopic thyroid (ET) involves numerous scenarios of detection and outcomes, while its current management is not standardised. A mediastinal ET (MET) represents a low index of suspicion. In this paper, we introduce a 47-year-old female who was accidentally identified with an MET, and a modern surgical approach was provided.

This in vitro study evaluated the sealing ability and microleakage of calcium silicate-based sealers compared to an epoxy resin-based sealer. One hundred twenty-five roots from anterior teeth were chemo-mechanically prepared and divided into four groups: AH Plus (AH), ProRoot MTA (PR), Medcem MTA (MC), and Total Fill BC Sealer/BC-coated gutta-percha (TF); = 30. Confocal laser scanning microscopy was used to measure sealer penetration at three horizontal levels in 10 roots per group, while glucose leakage over 30 days was assessed in 20 roots.

Background: Hydatid disease, a parasitic infection caused by the larval form of Echinococcus granulosus, infrequently involves the thyroid gland, whether through direct invasion or hematogenous spread.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 62-year-old female patient from Morocco who presented with an anterior cervical mass, initially suspected to be a goiter. A histopathological evaluation of the thyroidectomy specimen identified the presence of a hydatid cyst.

Aim: To determine the rate of prediabetes among and the pre-transplant plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) value predictive of prediabetes in patients during their first year post-living donor kidney transplant.
Methods: A total of 538 patients underwent living donor kidney transplantation between January 2018 and December 2020, 413 of whom met the inclusion criteria for this study. All patients underwent oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTTs) with 75 g glucose/200 mL solution, starting 3 months post-transplant and repeating the test every 3 months for the first year.

Metabolism-related pathways are important targets for intervention in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but few studies have reported on the combination of inhibitors of folate metabolism-related enzymes and molecularly targeted drugs for HCC. The results of the present work are the first to reveal the effects of an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), pralatrexate, on the sensitivity of HCC cells to molecularly targeted agents examined using multiple assays. In HCC cells, knockdown of DHFR or treatment with pralatrexate enhanced the sensitivity of HCC cells to molecularly targeted agents, such as sorafenib, regorafenib, lenvatinib, cabozantinib, or anlotinib.

Background: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), the third most frequent histological type of thyroid malignancy, may be found isolated or as part of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2). One particular subtype of this autosomal dominant-transmitted syndrome includes an association with cutaneous lichen amyloidosis, although, generally, a tide genotype-phenotype correlation is described in patients who carry proto-oncogene pathogenic variants.
Methods: Our objective was to provide an endocrine perspective of a case series diagnosed with -positive familial MTC associated with cutaneous primary lichen amyloidosis amid the confirmation of MEN2.

Background: Thrombophilia, characterized by an increased risk of thrombosis, can result from genetic polymorphisms in clotting factors. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of factor V Leiden (G1691A), factor II prothrombin (G20210A), and MTHFR (C677T and A1298C) polymorphisms in a Greek population, evaluating not only their association with thrombophilia, but also broader health implications.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study involving one hundred apparently healthy adults from Thessaloniki, Greece.

Introduction: Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is associated with high mortality and there is an unmet need for novel therapies. The intestinal expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) increases rapidly after mesenteric I/R, but it is still a question of debate whether selective COX-2 inhibitors can mitigate I/R-induced gut injury. Here we aimed to compare the effect of celecoxib and rofecoxib, two selective COX-2 inhibitors, on intestinal I/R-induced injury in rats.
