Introduction: The C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) lately has demonstrated as a prognostic factor and an indicator of disease activity, severity and prognosis in solid organ malignancies and inflammatory diseases. However, the effects of CAR have not been investigated in mycosis fungoides (MF) patients yet.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the potential role of CAR as a diagnostic and a prognostic indicator in MF.

In ampullary cancer, 5-year survival rates are 30-50%, even with optimal resection and perioperative systemic therapies. We sought to determine the important clinicopathological features and adjuvant treatments in terms of the prognosis of patients with operable-stage ampullary carcinomas. We included 197 patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy to treat ampullary carcinomas between December 2003 and May 2019.

Previous studies demonstrated that Th1 cytokines like IL-2, IL-12 and IFN-γ have initiatory role in alopecia areata (AA) and positive correlation with disease severity. They informed that serum levels of Th17 cytokines, IL-17, IL-22, IL-23 increased in active AA patients and corelated, particularly IL-17, with disease severity. In recent reports it was showed the balance between Th17 and Treg cells is crucial for maintaining tolerance to self-antigens, and an imbalance towards Th17 may contribute to the development of autoimmune diseases like AA.

Purpose: The presence of right ventricular dysfunction indicates a higher risk status in patients with pulmonary embolism (PE). The RV strain evaluated by speckle-tracking echocardiography seems to be more reliable method in the evaluation of RV dysfunction as compared to standard echocardiographic measures. In this study, we aimed to determine the value of myocardial-work indices in evaluating serial changes of RV function in acute PE.

The improved survival rates of childhood cancers raise the long-term risk of second primary malignancy (SPM) in childhood and adolescent cancer survivors. The intensity of the treatment protocol used, the use of some groups of chemotherapeutics, and radiotherapy were found to be risk factors for the development of second primary malignancies (SPMs). Forty-one patients who developed acute myelocytic leukemia or any solid organ cancer within 25 years of follow-up, after completion of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, were included in the study.

Objective: We aimed to compare different segmentation methods used to calculate prognostically valuable volumetric parameters, somatostatin receptor expressing tumor volume (SRETV), and total lesion somatostatin receptor expression (TLSRE), measured by 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT and to find the optimal segmentation method to predict prognosis.

Patients And Methods: Images of 34 patients diagnosed with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (GEPNET) who underwent 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT imaging were reanalyzed. Four different threshold-based methods (fixed relative threshold method, normal liver background threshold method, fixed absolute standardized uptake value (SUV) threshold method, and adaptive threshold method) were used to calculate SRETV and TLSRE values.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore skin changes in patients with acromegaly, a condition often revealed through dermatological symptoms, and examine how these changes relate to disease remission and other hormonal disorders.
  • Involving 278 acromegaly patients across 14 healthcare centers, dermatological evaluations revealed common skin conditions like skin tags (52.5%), cherry angiomas (47.4%), and varicose veins (33%).
  • Significant associations were found between certain skin conditions and hormonal issues, such as higher rates of diabetes and hypothyroidism in patients with varicose veins, while hypertrichosis was more common in patients who had not achieved remission.
