Patients undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) are at risk of coagulopathy, especially thromboembolism. We conducted a survey on practices in the assessment and management of coagulopathy during the new ALLTogether protocol in 29 (17 paediatric, 12 adult) Nordic and Baltic cancer centres. While 92% of adult centres used thromboprophylaxis with low-molecular-weight heparin, no paediatric centre did.

Introduction: Central venous access devices (CVAD) are used to facilitate intravenous treatment with coagulation factor concentrates (CFCs) in haemophilia A (HA). Guidelines for perioperative CFC replacement therapy are based on single centre experiences, and the length of replacement therapy varies.
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether haemostasis coverage under four days is as effective and safe as a longer period of haemostatic coverage.

Growth plate and articular cartilage constitute a single anatomical entity early in development but later separate into two distinct structures by the secondary ossification center (SOC). The reason for such separation remains unknown. We found that evolutionarily SOC appears in animals conquering the land - amniotes.

Background: There is a significant long-term burden on survivors after acute respiratory distress syndrome, even 5 years after discharge. This is not well investigated in patients treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The objective of this study was to describe very-long-term (⩾3 years) disability in lung function and morphology, quality of life, mood disorders, walking capacity, and return to work status in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation survivors.

Aim: Inflammation is a major factor in the pathophysiology of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and it contributes to accelerated telomere shortening and cellular ageing. This study aimed to determine its effect on telomere length and lung function in school-aged children born preterm with BPD.
Methods: We examined 29 children with BPD, born preterm in Stockholm county 1998-99, along with 28 children with allergic asthma born at term matched for age and gender.

Objectives: To investigate the presence of cognitive dysfunction and brain lesions in long-term survivors after treatment with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for severe respiratory failure, and to see whether patients with prolonged hypoxemia were at increased risk.
Design: A single-center retrospective cohort study.
Setting: Tertiary referral center for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in Sweden.

Objective: The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in adults with respiratory failure and sepsis is steadily increasing, but the knowledge on long-term survival in this group is scarce. The aim of the present study was to investigate the 5-year survival rates and causes of late death in this group of patients.
Design: Single-center retrospective cohort study.

Objective: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation has been used in patients with severe circulatory or respiratory failure since the 1970s, but the knowledge on long-term survival in this group is scarce. The aim of the present study was to investigate the 10-year survival rates and causes of late death in children treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Design: Single-center, retrospective cohort study.

The goal of asthma treatment is to obtain clinical control and reduce future risks to the patient. To reach this goal in children with asthma, ongoing monitoring is essential. While all components of asthma, such as symptoms, lung function, bronchial hyperresponsiveness and inflammation, may exist in various combinations in different individuals, to date there is limited evidence on how to integrate these for optimal monitoring of children with asthma.
