Objectives: T cells have an essential role in the antiviral defence. Public T-cell receptor (TCR) clonotypes are expanded in a substantial proportion of COVID-19 patients. We set out to exploit their potential use as read-out for COVID-19 T-cell immune responses.

Background: The finding was recently reported of clusters of colonic crypts lined with indigenous normal epithelium displaying irregular shapes underneath the adenomatous glands of conventional (tubular or villous) adenomas. These abnormal crypts were named non-dysplastic corrupted colonic crypts (NDCs). This study explored the characteristics of cell proliferation in NDCs present in a cohort of conventional adenomas.

Targeted sequencing is commonly used in clinical application of NGS technology since it enables generation of sufficient sequencing depth in the targeted genes of interest and thus ensures the best possible downstream analysis. This notwithstanding, the accurate discovery and annotation of disease causing mutations remains a challenging problem even in such favorable context. The difficulty is particularly salient in the case of third generation sequencing technology, such as PacBio.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, one of the phthalates most widely distributed in the environment, causes reproductive toxicity that is attributable to the action of its primary metabolite, mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP). Here, we have investigated the effects of MEHP on steroidogenesis by primary cultures of rat Leydig cell progenitors and immature granulosa cells. This phthalate stimulated basal steroidogenesis and steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) expression in both types of steroidogenic cells.

The biological relevance of laminin 5gamma2 expression at the invading edge of colonic carcinomas.

Int J Clin Exp Pathol

Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology, Karolinska Institute and Centre of Gastrointestinal Disease, Ersta Hospital, and Pathology, Karolinska Institute and University Hospital Stockholm, Sweden.

Previous studies have shown the presence of dilated neoplastic glands with cellular gaps called glandular pores (GPs) and laminin 5gamma2 expression at the invading edge of colonic carcinomas. We now extended our studies to explore a possible association between GP formation and laminin 5gamma2 expression at the invading edge of colonic carcinomas. Immunostain was performed on sections of five consecutive neoplastic glands with and without GPs from 86 colonic adenocarcinomas to assess the expression of laminin 5gamma2.

Morphologic and molecular events at the invading edge of colorectal carcinomas.

Int J Clin Exp Pathol

January 2008

Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology Research Laboratory, Department of Pathology, Karolinska Institute and University Hospital Stockholm, Sweden.

The mechanisms whereby colorectal carcinomas invade the extracellular matrix remain elusive. In a series of studies on the growing edge of colorectal carcinomas, we found dilated neoplastic glands, some with a layer of flat tumor cells, and some lacking one or more groups of consecutive lining tumor cells (called glandular pores). Through the glandular pores, the retained glandular material was siphoned off directly into the juxtaposed extracellular matrix.
