Climate change significantly challenges smallholder mixed crop-livestock (MCL) systems in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), affecting food and feed production. This study enhances the SIMPLACE modeling framework by incorporating crop-vegetation-livestock models, which contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices in response to climate change. The asymmetric Schiff base prepared from ethylenediamine and pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde reacts with Fe(ClO)·6HO to form the Fe(II) complex [FeL](ClO) with L = ,-diethyl-'-(pyridin-2-yl)methylene)ethane-1,2-diamine, where the Fe(III) starting material has been unexpectedly reduced to Fe(II). This complex was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction measurements, variable temperature DC magnetic measurement and room temperature Mössbauer spectroscopy. The asymmetric ligand L coordinates in a tridentate fashion through its pyridyl, azomethine and amino nitrogen atoms, generating a distorted octahedral geometry around the central metal ion.

Gas-phase synthesis and detection of boron-doped nitride clusterfullerenes and a large variety of monometallofullerenes have been achieved using a pulsed laser vaporization cluster source. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the electronic structures of boron-doped endohedral metallofullerenes differ from those of the pristine all-carbon cages due to the lack of one electron upon boron substitution. For monometallofullerenes, this is likely the main reason for the somewhat different abundance distribution observed for boron-doped with respect to all-carbon cages.

A pronounced nucleophilicity in combination with a distinct redox non-innocence is a unique feature of a coordinated ligand, which in the current case, leads to unprecedented carbon-centered reactivity patterns: A carbodiphosphorane-based (CDP) pincer-type rhodium complex allows to cleave two C-Cl-bonds of geminal dichlorides via two consecutive SN2-type oxidative additions resulting in the formation of a stabilized carbene fragment. In the presence of a suitable reductant the carbene fragment can even be converted into olefines or hydrodehalogenation products in a catalytic reaction. The developed method can also be used to convert chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) such as CH2ClF to fluoromethane and methane.
