September 2022

School of Pharmacy/School of Food science/Key Laboratory of Xinjiang Phytomedicine Resource and Utilization, Ministry of Education, Shihezi University, Xinjiang, Shihezi, 832002, PR China.

Article Synopsis
  • Periodontitis is a common chronic inflammatory disease, and polyphenols from Turkish gall have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties that aid in treating such conditions.
  • Researchers prepared nanoparticles (T-NPs) from these polyphenols, which are encapsulated in a thermo-sensitive hydrogel and release about 42.29% of their active ingredients over 96 hours in an alkaline environment typical of periodontitis.
  • The T-NPs demonstrated significantly greater antibacterial effects against oral pathogens compared to the raw extract, effectively killing bacteria like P. gingivalis and A. viscosus through oxidative stress without harming periodontal tissues.

Histopathological image analysis is the gold standard for pathologists to grade colorectal cancers of different differentiation types. However, the diagnosis by pathologists is highly subjective and prone to misdiagnosis. In this study, we constructed a new attention mechanism named MCCBAM based on channel attention mechanism and spatial attention mechanism, and developed a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) method based on CNN and MCCBAM, called HCCANet.

State Key Laboratory of Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatment of High Incidence Diseases in Central Asia, Xinjiang Medical University, Urumqi, 830011, People's Republic of China.

The iodine status of children has improved and stabilized since China implemented salt iodization measures 25 years ago, but routine monitoring of iodine cannot reflect regional factors that influence the iodine level in children. Therefore, we conducted a regional spatial-temporal analysis of children's median urinary iodine concentration (MUIC) and searched for possible factors that might affect children's iodine levels by mining monitoring data. We analyzed data from Xinjiang collected as part of the "Iodine Deficiency Disease National Monitoring Program" from 2017 to 2020.
