Objectives: The study aims to investigate the relationship between the presence of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and obstruction levels identified during drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) among nonobese patients.

Methods: We conducted a prospective study of 105 adult patients diagnosed with OSA who underwent DISE using propofol sedation from 2019 to 2024 at a tertiary hospital. To control for the confounding impact of obesity on LPR, the study selectively enrolled individuals presenting a body mass index within the normal range.

Colorectal cancer can be diagnosed early with screening tests; therefore, patients' beliefs regarding colorectal cancer screening are closely related to clinical and pathological disease stages at the time of diagnosis. This study aimed to determine participation in colorectal cancer screening programs and health beliefs related to protection from colorectal cancer among patients aged 40-70 years and evaluate factors affecting their participation in such screening programs. This descriptive study was conducted in a state hospital in Türkiye between May 2021 and December 2021 with the participation of 1,016 patients.

Background/Aims: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the resected caudate lobe on survival, particularly in the context of anatomical resection of liver metastases in colorectal cancers without metastases in the caudate lobe. Materials and Methods: Patient data were extracted from the dataset titled "Preoperative CT and Survival Data for Patients Undergoing Resection of Colorectal Liver Metastases (CRLM)." The analysis specifically concentrated on individuals who underwent complete cau- date lobe resection in the absence of radiological signs of metastasis within the caudate lobe itself.

Purpose: In patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), infections, particularly pneumonias, are the most common cause of hospital admissions and death after cardiovascular diseases. It is recommended that dialysis patients receive the pneumococcal vaccine every five years and the influenza vaccine annually. Our study aims to determine the awareness and factors affecting influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates in hemodialysis patients.

Background: Rapid, reproducible, and noninvasive diagnostic methods like Ultrasonography (US) and plethysmographic measurements such as the perfusion index (PI) and pleth variablity index (PVI) have great potential value for emergency trauma cases in which blood loss needs to be recognized quickly and accurately.

Objectives: We planned this study to evaluate the utility of US, PI, and PVI in detecting early-stage hemorrhage and mimicking volume replacement using a platelet apheresis model.

Methods: This prospective, observational study included 46 healthy platelet apheresis volunteers who met inclusion criteria.

Background: We compared the safety and efficacy of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in elderly men (aged ≥75 years) with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 151 patients (HoLEP: 72; TURP: 79) was conducted. Preoperative and postoperative parameters, including prostate size, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), catheterization duration, hospital stay, and perioperative complications (incontinence and dysuria), were analyzed.

Is There Novel F-FDG Biodistribution in the Digital PET/CT Era? A Real-World Data Analysis.

Cancer Biother Radiopharm

January 2025

Department of Nuclear Medicine, Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital, University of Health Sciences, İstanbul, Türkiye.

This retrospective multicenter study investigated the biodistribution of Fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) in the positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) in digital PET/CT (dPET) compared to analog PET/CT (aPET), focusing differences in physiological uptake in reference and small structures across various scanner models. One hundred thirty patients with similar preimaging conditions underwent both dPET and aPET imaging within 6 months. Visual evaluations and paired comparative analyses of semiquantitative parameters were performed for small and reference structures.

Purpose: Carotid-cavernous fistulas (CCFs) are abnormal connections between the carotid artery and cavernous sinus, often causing ocular symptoms like chemosis, proptosis, and diplopia. Endovascular embolization is the preferred treatment, typically performed via the transfemoral transvenous route through the inferior petrosal sinus (IPS). However, we present a case and a systematic review of indirect CCF treated through deep orbital puncture of the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) for embolization.
