Background: Tissue metabolomics analysis, alongside genomics and proteomics, offers crucial insights into the regulatory mechanisms of tumorigenesis. To enhance metabolite detection sensitivity, chemical isotope labeling (CIL) techniques, such as dansylation, have been developed to improve metabolite separation and ionization in mass spectrometry (MS). However, the dissolution of hydrophobic derivatized metabolites in solvents with high acetonitrile content limits the use of liquid chromatography (LC) systems with small-volume reversed-phase (RP) columns.

Inflammation is a physiological response of the immune system to infectious agents or tissue injury, which involves a cascade of vascular and cellular events and the activation of biochemical pathways depending on the type of harmful agent and the stimulus generated. The Kunitz peptide HCIQ2c1 of sea anemone is a strong protease inhibitor and exhibits neuroprotective and analgesic activities. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory potential of HCIQ2c1 in histamine- and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated RAW 264.

We report a case of a 73-year-old man with minimally invasive lung adenocarcinoma, post-resection, evaluated with F-FDG PET/CT for suspected disease progression. Imaging showed increased FDG uptake in the right lower lung mass and systemic lymphadenopathy (mediastinal, supraclavicular, axillary, paraaortic, and iliac regions). The appearance of a stable lymph node and a clinical history of IgG4 lymphadenopathy suggested an inflammatory process, although malignancy in the lung mass and mediastinal nodes could not be excluded.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells have a high p53 mutation rate, but there were rare reported about the p53 gain of function through the prion-like aggregated form in p53 mutated HNSCC cells. Thioflavin T (ThT) is used to stain prion-like proteins in cells. Previously, we found that ThT and p53 staining were co-localized in HNSCC cells (Detroit 562 cells) with homozygous p53 R175H mutation.
