Objectives: Data concerning the usefulness of pleth variability index (PVI)-based goal-directed fluid management (GDFM) in gynecologic surgery is limited.This study purposed to compare the impact of PVI-based GDFM to conventional fluid management (CFM) on intraoperative hemodynamics and lactate levels in subjects undergoing gynecologic surgery.

Methods: This randomized and controlled trial was conducted on 70 patients undergoing elective gynecologic surgery.

Sotos syndrome is a non-progressive neurological disease with overgrowing, increased bone age, and developmental retardation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prenatal, natal, and postnatal clinical findings of patients with Sotos syndrome. Sixteen patients suspected to have Sotos syndrome with clinical findings were examined retrospectively, ranging in ages between 3 and 23.

Primary immunodeficiencies: HSCT experiences of a single center in Turkey.

Background: Primary immunodeficiency diseases (PID) are characterized by the occurrence of frequent infections and are caused by many genetic defects. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is the only curative treatment option for the majority of PID. As a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology-Immunology Transplantation Unit, we wanted to present our HSCT experience regarding treatment of primary immunodeficiency diseases.

Objectives: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors play important roles in angiogenesis. Melatonin plays an important role in gonadal development; thus, its effect on the reproductive system is evident. We investigated the influence of melatonin on the expression of VEGF, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (VEGFR1) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR2), as well as on changes in oxidative stress markers and follicle numbers in rat ovaries.
