Article Synopsis
  • Direct pulp capping (DPC) is a dental procedure where exposed pulp is covered with materials to help it heal and form a protective dentin bridge.
  • Calcium hydroxide is the traditional choice for this, but mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and rosuvastatin are also studied for their effectiveness in promoting pulp healing.
  • The study aims to compare the effects of rosuvastatin and MTA on pulp-dentin complex reactions in permanent human molars after DPC, focusing on reparative dentin formation over a 90-day period.

Variation in root canal morphology, especially in maxillary first molar presents a constant challenge for a clinician in their detection and management. This case report describes the successful root canal treatment of a three rooted right maxillary first molar presenting with three canals each in the mesiobuccal and distobuccal roots and one canal in the palatal root. The clinical detection of this morphologic aberration was made using a dental operating microscope, and the canal configuration was established after correlating and computing the clinical, radiographic and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan findings.

Comparison of root canal sealer distribution in obturated root canal: An in-vitro study.

J Int Soc Prev Community Dent

September 2014

Department of Public Health Dentistry, Kanti Devi Dental College and Hospital, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Background And Objectives: Endodontic sealer is currently regarded with such importance in the root canal treatment that it is often considered to be more important than the core obturating material itself. Sealer with the least film thickness is favorable for minimizing microleakage. The aim of the study is to compare sealer distribution in root canal using three different sealers with three different obturation techniques.

Ideal alveolar ridge width and height allows placement of a natural appearing pontic, which provides maintenance of a plaque-free environment. The contour of a partially edentulous ridge should be thoroughly evaluated before a fixed partial denture is undertaken. Localized alveolar ridge defect refers to a volumetric deficit of the limited extent of bone and soft-tissue within the alveolar process.
