A large-area membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) was created using a methanol-based slurry of PtRu/C catalyst via a decal transfer method, emphasizing the importance of slurry stability for electrode integrity.
The study evaluated various organic solvents for their effectiveness in maintaining stable catalyst slurries, finding that methanol provided the best dispersion and coating properties.
The resulting MEA demonstrated superior performance compared to those made using spray methods and performed well even with a reforming gas, with an active area of 51.84 cm.
