Objective: The Clarity AD phase III trial showed that lecanemab reduced amyloid markers in early Alzheimer's disease (AD) and resulted in less decline on measures of cognition and function than placebo. Herein, we aimed to characterize amyloid-β (Aβ) protofibril (PF) captured by lecanemab in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from living participants with different stages in AD, which enable an enhanced understanding of the dynamic changes of lecanemab-associated Aβ-PF (Lec-PF) in vivo.

Methods: We newly developed a unique and highly sensitive immunoassay method using lecanemab that selectively captures Lec-PF.

Osimertinib has emerged as the standard first-line treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutations, offering improved tolerability and demonstrating superior efficacy against brain metastases in comparison with other tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The Meckel's cave is a dural recess in the posteromedial part of the middle cranial fossa that acts as a conduit for the trigeminal nerve between the anterior pontine cisterna and the cavernous sinus, and houses the Gasserian ganglion and proximal radicle of the trigeminal nerve. Trigeminal neuropathy, characterized by numbness and dysesthesia of the skin and mucous membranes of the face, poses diagnostic challenges and often requires differentiation from conditions, such as compression neuropathy, inflammation, and drug-induced reactions.

Fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) is highly expressed in adipocytes. Lipolysis, caused by an elevated adrenergic input, has been suggested to contribute to elevated serum FABP4 levels in patients with cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between the serum FABP4 and efferent sympathetic nerve activity remains poorly understood.

The accumulation of amyloid β-proteins (Aβ) in the extracellular space, forming insoluble plaques, is a primary pathological process underlying Alzheimer's disease (AD). Among the various Aβ species that appear during Aβ aggregation, Aβ oligomers are considered the most neurotoxic form. However, the precise mechanisms of their molecular functions within the Aβ aggregation cascade have not been clarified so far.

We investigated the mechanisms of interaction between bladder cancer (BC) cells and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). Coculturing BC cell lines (UMUC3 and T24) with macrophage-like cells differentiated from THP-1 into M2-like TAMs revealed a decrease in Cluster of Differentiation (CD) 68 expression and an increase in CD206 expression. This differentiation enhanced BC cell migration and invasion.

Hereditary thoracic aortic disease (HTAD) is a rare heritable condition with several subtypes, including Marfan syndrome (MFS), vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS). Although MFS is the most common type of HTAD caused by mutations in , differentiation from other conditions such as LDS is crucial due to the varying clinical courses. We report the case of a family history of early-onset ascending aortic dissection initially diagnosed as MFS based on a pathogenic variant of .

Excessive consumption of vegetable oils such as soybean and canolla oils containing ω-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids is considered one of the most important epidemiological factors leading to the progression of lifestyle-related diseases. However, the underlying mechanism of vegetable-oil-induced organ damage is incompletely elucidated. Since proopiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons in the hypothalamus are related to the control of appetite and energy expenditure, their cell degeneration/death is crucial for the occurrence of obesity.

Background & Aims: Biliary epithelial senescence is involved in the pathogenesis of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). We hypothesized that a unique subtype of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-positive senescent biliary epithelial cells (BECs) may be related to the pathogenesis of PBC in association with cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)- stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway.

Approach & Results: The expression of PD-L1, STING and their association with senescent markers p16 and p21 were immunohistochemically determined in livers taken from the patients with PBC (n = 87) and 97 diseased and normal control livers.
