Aptamers bind to their targets with exceptional affinity and specificity. However, their intracellular application is hampered by the lack of knowledge about the effect of the cellular milieu on the RNA structure/stability. In this study, cellular crowding was mimicked using polyethylene glycol (PEG), and the crucial role of Mg ions in stabilizing the structure of an RNA aptamer was investigated.

GntR/FadR family featuring an N-terminal winged helix-turn-helix DNA-binding domain and a C-terminal α-helical effector-binding and oligomerization domain constitutes one of the largest families of transcriptional regulators. Several GntR/FadR regulators govern the metabolism of sugar acids, carbon sources implicated in bacterial-host interactions. Although effectors are known for a few sugar acid regulators, the unavailability of relevant structures has left their allosteric mechanism unexplored.

Metal complexes with tunable ligands play a crucial role in olefin polymerization and impart control over molecular weight, crystallinity, and stereoregularity. We report the single-step synthesis of imine-phenoxy ligands in excellent yields (81-93%). The identity of electronically tuned imine-phenoxy ligands was unambiguously ascertained by using a combination of spectroscopic and analytical methods.

Rechargeable zinc-air batteries (ZABs) with high-performance and stability is desirable for encouraging the transition of the technology from academia to industries. However, achieving this balance remains a formidable challenge, primarily due to the requirement of robust, earth-abundant reversible oxygen electrocatalyst. The present study introduces a simple strategy to synthesize Co-N rich nanoalloy with N-doped porous carbon tubes (NiCo@NPCTs).

Ethidium bromide (Et-Br) is a widely used fluorescent dye in molecular biology and biotechnology laboratories for visualizing nucleic acids in agarose gel electrophoresis. However, concerns have been raised about its environmental impact and potential health risks due to its persistence and toxicity. The potential accumulation and long-term effects on the environment necessitate the removal of Et-Br from water.

Subjective tinnitus, characterized by the perception of phantom sounds in the absence of external stimuli, presents significant challenges in both audiology and neurology. Once thought to primarily involve aberrant neural activity within auditory pathways, it is now understood to engage a broader array of neuroanatomical structures. This study investigated the connections between auditory, cognitive, and sensory processing regions, which are crucial for unraveling the complex neurobiological basis of tinnitus.

An electrochemical sensor was developed for the sensitive and selective detection of sulfadiazine (SDZ), based on a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) film formed on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode through a self-assembly process. The SDZ-imprinted ITO electrode (SDZ-MIP/APTES-ITO) was prepared through in situ polymerization using sulfadiazine, methacrylic acid (MAA), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the template, functional monomer, cross-linker, and initiator respectively. Before polymerization, the ITO electrode was functionalized with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) to promote covalent attachment of the polymer to the electrode.

The technological advancement of Additive Manufacturing has enabled the fabrication of various customized artifacts and devices, which has prompted a huge demand for multimaterials that can cater to stringent mechanical, chemical, and other functional property requirements. Photocurable formulations that are widely used for Digital Light Processing (DLP)/Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing applications are now expected to meet these new challenges of hard and soft or stretchable structural requirements in addition to good resolution in multiple scales. Here we present a biocompatible photocurable resin formulation with tunable mechanical properties that can produce hard or stretchable elastomeric 3D printed materials in a graded manner.

Human exposure to mycotoxins through food involve a mixture of compounds, which can be harmful to human health. The Fusarium fungal species are known to produce zearalenone (ZEN), a non-steroidal estrogenic mycotoxin, and its metabolite alpha-zearalenol (α-ZEL), both of which possess endocrine-disruptive properties. Given their potential harm to human health through food exposure, investigating the combined effects of ZEN and α-ZEL becomes crucial.

This study focuses on the design concepts that contribute to the C-H activation in bithiophene-flanked monomers incorporating naphthalene diimide (NDI), perylene diimide (PDI), and fluorene (FLU) and their polymerization by direct heteroarylation. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal distinct energy requirements for C-H bond abstraction, which is dictated by the electron-withdrawing strength of the central aromatic core flanked by bithiophene. These provide insights into the reactivity of each monomer for C-H bond activation.

The resurgence of interest in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) is largely driven by their natural abundance and favourable cost, apart from their comparable electrochemical performance when compared with lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). The uneven geographic distribution of the raw materials required for LIBs has also contributed to this. The solid-state electrolyte (SSE) is typically one of the vital components for energy storage in SIBs and for achieving high electrochemical performances.

Zearalenone (ZEA), has emerged as a potential endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC). Previous results show ZEA effects on endometrial stromal cell apoptosis, migration, and growth of endometriosis. Despite the reported presence of ZEA in Endometrial Cancer (EC) patient's blood and tissues, ZEA-induced EC promotion and its mechanism/s remain elusive.

Poly(lactide--glycolide) (PLGA) is a biocompatible and biodegradable copolymer that has gained high acceptance in biomedical applications. In the present study, PLGA ( = 13,900) was synthesized by ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a biocompatible zinc-proline initiator through a green route. Irinotecan (Ir) loaded with efficient PLGA core-lipid shell hybrid nanocarriers (lipomers, LPs) were formulated with 1,2-distearoyl--glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine and 1,2-distearoyl--glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine--[amino (polyethylene glycol)-2000] (DSPE-PEG-2000), using soya lecithin, by a nanoprecipitation method, and the fabricated LPs were designated as P-DSPE-Ir and P-DSPE-PEG-Ir, respectively.

We present a methodology yielding 3,4-dihydro-2-1,4-oxazine by cyclization of -propargyl -sulfonyl amino alcohols using silver triflate as a catalyst at ambient temperature. Additionally, we showcase the applicability of this methodology in solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) to introduce the oxazine heterocyclic ring into short peptides containing serine and threonine. Notably, Rink amide resin supported the on-resin formation of 3,4-dihydro-2-1,4-oxazine, while 2-CTC resin facilitated the oxazine formation in a one-pot process involving peptide cleavage, deprotection, and subsequent C-O ring formation, thus offering a versatile method for the late-stage modification of peptides.

Asynchronous interconnection is essential for integrating AC networks operating at different frequencies, typically 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This need arises from distributed power generation methods, including offshore renewable sources and diverse regional grid configurations. Advanced strategies are required to overcome these frequency differences and ensure uninterrupted power transfer.
