Objectives: This study aimed to validate the diagnostic accuracy of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) Assessment of Different NEoplasias in the adneXa (ADNEX) model in Japanese women, population with a distinct adnexal mass distribution compared with European women, and to evaluate the model's utility by gynecology trainees and ultrasound specialists.
Methods: This single-center, retrospective study analyzed ultrasound data from January 2017 to March 2020 of 206 women with adnexal masses. Patients who underwent ultrasonography and serum CA-125 measurement and received postsurgery histological diagnosis were included.

Introduction Female pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) include clinical conditions such as urinary and fecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Disease-specific questionnaires like the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 (PFDI-20) have facilitated pelvic floor disorder assessment. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of pelvic floor disorders in Japanese women after different modes of delivery and the association of pelvic floor disorders with epidural anesthesia.

Background: When treating acute ischemic stroke patients, evaluation of collateral flow to the ischemic area is essential. Blood-oxygen-level-dependent imaging, including T2 star (T2∗), can identify elevated deoxyhemoglobin levels, reflecting an increase in the oxygen extraction fraction. Prominent veins on T2∗ represent increased deoxyhemoglobin and cerebral blood volume.

Background: Chest computed tomography (CT) is commonly used to diagnose pneumonia in Japan, but its usability in terms of prognostic predictability is not obvious. We modified CURB-65 (confusion, urea >7 mmol·L, respiratory rate ≥30 breaths·min, blood pressure <90 mmHg (systolic) ≤60 mmHg (diastolic), age ≥65 years) and A-DROP scores with CT information and evaluated their ability to predict mortality in community-acquired pneumonia patients.
Methods: This study was conducted using a prospective registry of the Adult Pneumonia Study Group - Japan.
Background And Aim: Although hemodialysis (HD) is a strong risk factor for postendoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) bleeding, additional risk factors in HD patients remain unclear. There is no model for predicting post-ES bleeding risk in HD patients. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective multicenter study to reveal these risk factors and develop a predictive model of post-ES bleeding in HD patients.

Background: Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) is a heterogeneous clinico-radiological syndrome without a consensus definition. There are limited data on the relation between the amount of parenchymal fibrosis and prognosis. In this study, we assessed the prognostic implications of the extent of fibrosis assessed by an automated quantitative computed tomography (CT) technique and the radiological and functional change over time in patients with a broad spectrum of fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) encountered in a real-world setting.

Objectives: Dietary guidance for patients with fecal incontinence (FI) in Japan is lacking. Here, we sought to investigate dietary trends of patients with FI.
Methods: We performed a comparative study of dietary intake par day between patients with FI and the national mean.

Purpose: The aim was to investigate the relationship of age for recovery of six-minute walking distance (6MWD), pulmonary function, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) after lung cancer surgery.
Methods: Primary outcome was the 6MWD recovery until 6 months after surgery. Secondary outcome was the recoveries of forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV) and HRQOL until 6 months after surgery.

Background And Study Aims: Hemodialysis (HD) is considered one of the risk factors for post-endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) bleeding. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to evaluate HD as a risk factor for post-ES bleeding in patients with choledocholithiasis.
Patients And Methods: We used the post-ES bleeding rate as the main outcome measure.

Objectives: We conducted a survey to investigate the use of bidet toilets among community dwelling Japanese people and explored the correlates for an itch on the anus.
Methods: A questionnaire-based survey was conducted among a convenience sample of individuals, who were derived from outpatients and employees of Kameda Medical Center, and students and employees of two technical colleges.
Results: A total of 4,963 respondents were evaluated in this study, 55 % of whom used bidet toilets either before or after defecation, and at least 30 % of bidet users washed the anus before defecation, partly to aid defecation.

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is becoming an established nucleic acid amplification method offering rapid, accurate, and cost-effective diagnosis of infectious diseases. We retrospectively evaluated 78 consecutive HIV-uninfected patients who underwent LAMP method for diagnosing Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). Diagnosis of PCP was made by the detection of Pneumocystis jirovecii (P.
