Introduction: Loose or individual cigarettes sold without packaging pose a unique challenge for tobacco control, which is the leading cause of premature and preventable mortality worldwide. This study aims to assess the changes in smoking patterns following the ban on loose cigarettes in 2008 in Turkey.
Method: Gender-stratified trend analysis of smoking patterns before and after the ban on loose cigarettes was done using the Global Tobacco Surveillance data (adults: Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) 2008, 2012, and 2016; youth: Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) 2003, 2005, 2009, 2012, and 2017) from Turkey.

Electrical stimulation (ES) has emerged as a powerful therapeutic modality for enhancing biological wound healing. This non-invasive technique utilizes low-level electrical currents to promote tissue regeneration and expedite the wound healing process. ES has been shown to accelerate wound closure, reduce inflammation, enhance angiogenesis, and modulate cell migration and proliferation through various mechanisms.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) cause 19 million fatalities each year and cost nations billions of dollars. Surrogate biomarkers are established methods for CVD risk stratification; however, manual inspection is costly, cumbersome, and error-prone. The contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) tools for segmentation and risk prediction, including older deep learning (DL) networks employ simple merge connections which may result in semantic loss of information and hence low in accuracy.

Background: Dengue is a vector-borne debilitating disease that is manifested as mild dengue fever, dengue with warning signs, and severe dengue. Dengue infection provokes a collective immune response; in particular, the innate immune response plays a key role in primary infection and adaptive immunity during secondary infection. In this review, we comprehensively walk through the various markers of immune response against dengue pathogenesis and outcome.

The rise of Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) bacterial pathogens to most, if not all, currently available antibacterial agents has become a global threat. As a consequence of the antibiotic resistance epidemic, phage therapy has emerged as a potential alternative to conventional antibiotics. Despite the high therapeutic advantages of phage therapy, they have not yet been successfully used in the clinic due to various limitations of narrow host specificity compared to antibiotics, poor adhesion on biofilm surface, and susceptibility to both human and bacterial defences.

The present research explores the cytotoxic mechanism of protein Cytochrome P450 (CYP3A4) with aflatoxin (AFB1), a potent carcinogen. Cytochrome P450 is an essential enzyme involved in drug metabolism, however epoxide formation due to the binding event of AFB1 leads to cell cytotoxicity. In this direction, our study elucidates the scavenging effect of algal-derived Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin (SCC) over AFB1 cytotoxicity.

In this study, a new hexadentate and heteroleptic Zn(ii) complex ([Zn(bpy)(OAc)], 1) was prepared with a conventional ,-donor ligand (2,2'-bipyridine) and a leaving group (OAc) and characterized ESI-MS, UV-Vis, and FT-IR spectroscopy. Kinetic and mechanistic investigations of 1 were performed using two biologically relevant ligands (dl-penicillamine and l-cysteine) to understand its selectivity and reactivity.

This case report explores the application of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) as an autologous biomaterial in the surgical management of a periapical cyst in an 18-year-old female patient. The patient presented with pain, discoloration, and swelling in the maxillary left central incisor region, indicative of an asymptomatic periapical lesion associated with a history of trauma. Despite initial endodontic treatment with calcium hydroxide, the lesion persisted, necessitating surgical intervention.
