Evaluation of Posterior Ocular Blood Flow in Diabetic Retinopathy Patients Without Macular Edema Using Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography.

Aim: The objective of this study is to investigate and compare the superficial and deep vascular structures of the retina, as well as the changes in the choriocapillaris (CC) and optic disc microvasculature, using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (DM) without diabetic retinopathy (DR), patients with non-proliferative and proliferative DR, and healthy individuals.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study conducted between July 2020 and July 2021 included patients diagnosed with type 2 DM without DR, as well as patients with mild nonproliferative, moderate nonproliferative, and proliferative DR without macular oedema. A control group of 25 age- and gender-matched healthy individuals was also included.

Relationship between health literacy and maternal bonding: A prospective cross-sectional study.

Background: Maternal bonding has an effect on the baby throughout its life. The effective and complete occurrence of the mother-baby bond depends on many factors which can be individual or environmental. Can Stria Gravidarum Predict Surgical Fluid Loss in Cesarean Section?

Introduction: Alterations in collagen subtypes and matrix can potentially cause fluid loss in surgery which is important in terms of liquid loss.

Objectives: The study aimed to analyze stria gravidarum (SG) and its severity in pregnant women who had undergone cesarean section (CS) and to evaluate surgical fluid loss (SFL) that occurred during CS operation.

Methods: The research was designed as a prospective clinical cohort study to compare the amount of SFL in the second cesarean section with the severity of SG at 34-37 weeks pregnant (N 308).

Aim: We aimed to investigate whether there is a difference in the rate of decrease in carboxyhemoglobin (COHB) values between high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) and normobaric oxygen (NBO) therapy.

Material And Method: This retrospective observational study included patients with carbon monoxide poisoning who were treated with HFNO or NBO (control group). All patients were started on NBO therapy with a non-rebreather face mask at a rate of 15 L/min.

Investigation of Pulmonary Artery and Ascending Aorta Morphology in the Coronavirus Disease 2019: A Radioanatomical Study.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the maximum diameters of the pulmonary artery and ascending aorta and their ratio to each other to enable early diagnosis and treatment of possible pulmonary hypertension and to prevent possible complications in patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.

Material And Methods: A total of 120 patients aged 40 years and older, 60 patients (30 females and 30 males) with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection and 60 individuals (30 females and 30 males), were included in this retrospective study. Maximum pulmonary artery and maximum ascending aorta diameters were measured at the level of bifurcatio trunci pulmonalis in the transverse axial plane by computed tomography, and their ratios to each other were determined.

Background: Caudal epidural steroid injection (CESI) has been increasingly used for treating lower back pain. However, there is still significant controversy about the efficacy and safety of different imaging techniques used to guide CESI. In this context, the objective of this study is to compare the efficacies of fluoroscopy- and ultrasonography-guided CESI in patients with chronic lower back pain.

Predictors of mortality in patients with geriatric trauma in the emergency service.

Objective: In our study, it was aimed to compare the power of trauma scores (Glasgow Coma Score, Revised Trauma Score, Abbreviated Injury Scale, Injury Severity Score, and Trauma Score-Injury Severity Score) in order to predict mortality in patients with geriatric trauma and to determine the predictive values of these scores in mortality.

Methods: Demographic data, clinical features, etiological causes, laboratory results, and trauma scores of the patients were statistically analyzed. SPSS 20 for Windows was used for this evaluation.

How Scientific Are We in the Field of Cardiology?

Objective: The current study investigated the contribution of the dissertations produced in the field of cardiology to the scientific literature and the factors affecting the publication process.

Methods: The study included 1049 cardiology dissertations archived in the national thesis center database between January 2010 and December 2017. The titles (English and Turkish), abstracts, and author names of cardiology dissertations were searched in Google Academic, TR Directory, and PubMed Central databases.

Investigation of Retinal Vascular Parameters and Choroidal Vascular Index in Patients Developing Hyphema After Unilateral Blunt Trauma.

Background: To evaluate retinal and choroidal vascular changes in cases with hyphema after blunt ocular trauma that did not cause globe rupture or any retinal pathology.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 29 patients who developed hyphema after unilateral blunt ocular trauma (BOT). The other healthy eyes of the same patients were evaluated as the control group.

Subacute THYROiditis Related to SARS-CoV-2 VAccine and Covid-19 (THYROVAC Study): A Multicenter Nationwide Study.

Context: The aims of the study are to compare characteristics of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) related to different etiologies, and to identify predictors of recurrence of SAT and incident hypothyroidism.

Methods: This nationwide, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included 53 endocrinology centers in Turkey. The study participants were divided into either COVID-19-related SAT (Cov-SAT), SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-related SAT (Vac-SAT), or control SAT (Cont-SAT) groups.

Treatment efficacy of ribociclib or palbociclib plus letrozole in hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer.

Ribociclib, palbociclib and abemaciclib are currently approved CDK4/6 inhibitors along with aromatase inhibitors as the first-line standard-of-care for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. The authors report retrospective real-life data for 600 patients with estrogen receptor- and/or progesterone receptor-positive and HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who were treated with ribociclib and palbociclib in combination with letrozole. The results demonstrated that the combination of palbociclib or ribociclib with letrozole has similar progression-free survival and overall survival benefit in real life for the patient group with similar clinical features.

Aim: We aimed to evaluate the awareness of pneumococcal vaccination (PCV13, PPSV23) in general cardiology outpatient clinics and impact of physicians' recommendations on vaccination rates.

Methods: This was a multicenter, observational, prospective cohort study. Patients over the age of 18 from 40 hospitals in different regions of Turkey who applied to the cardiology outpatient clinic between September 2022 and August 2021 participated.

Efficacy of Tele-CO-OP in Children With Organic Acidemia: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial.

How Did the Updated 2019 European Society of Cardiology/European Atherosclerosis Society Risk Categorization for Patients with Diabetes Affect the Risk Perception and Lipid Goals? A Simulated Analysis of Real-life Data from EPHESUS Study.

Background: The recent 2019 European Society of Cardiology/European Atherosclerosis Society practice guidelines introduced a new risk categorization for patients with diabetes. We aimed to compare the implications of the 2016 and 2019 European Society of Cardiology/European Atherosclerosis Society guidelines with regard to the lipid-lowering treatment use, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol goal attainment rates, and the estimated proportion of patients who would be at goal in an ideal setting.

Methods: Patients with diabetes were classified into 4 risk categories according to 2019 European Society of Cardiology/European Atherosclerosis Society dyslipidemia guidelines from the database of EPHESUS (cross-sectional, observational, countrywide registry of cardiology outpatient clinics) study.

Knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians about childhood vaccinations that are not in the routine vaccination schedule: a cross-sectional study.

Aim: In our country, there are childhood vaccinations that are not included in the routine vaccination schedule and that families have to buy and have for a fee. In addition to income level, family physicians' recommendations also play a major role in getting these vaccines.Our study was planned to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians about rotavirus, HPV and meningococcal vaccines, which are not included in the routine vaccination scheme of the Ministry of Health.
