Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are cancer cells responsible for cancer initiation, growth, metastasis, recurrence and resistance to treatment. OCT4 and c-MYC are widely accepted as CSC markers. In this study, we examined the immunohistochemical co-expression of c-MYC and OCT4 with Ki-67 in colorectal cancers (CRC) and the relationship between the results and prognostic and therapeutic data.

Clinical and Demographic Characteristics of Treatment Requiring Retinopathy of Prematurity in Big Premature Infants in Turkiye: Report No. 1 (BIG-ROP Study).

Introduction: The aim of the study was to analyse the clinical and demographic features of infants with gestational age (GA) of 32-37 weeks and birth weight (BW) of >1,500 g who developed treatment requiring retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Methods: Data on the infants with a GA of 32-37 weeks and BW >1,500 g who developed treatment requiring ROP (TR-ROP) were collected retrospectively from the 33 ROP centres in Turkiye. GA, BW, type of hospital, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) level, presence of an ophthalmologist and neonatologist in the same hospital, length of stay in NICU, duration of oxygen therapy, comorbidities, type of ROP, and timing for TR-ROP development were analysed.

Background And Aim: To investigate the relationship between ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance (MR) proton density fat fraction (PDFF) techniques, using the modified DIXON method, in determining the severity of liver steatosis.

Materials And Methods: This study included seventy consecutive patients who underwent upper abdominal MRI for various reasons between June 2016 and January 2017. Fatty liver staging was performed using US as indicated.

Objective: To compare the effect of spinal anesthesia + transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block application on postoperative analgesia quality and patient satisfaction with spinal anesthesia + intrathecal morphine (ITM) application.

Methods: A total of 70 patients were randomly separated into 2 groups as spinal anesthesia + TAP block (TAP block group, n = 34) and spinal anesthesia + ITM group (ITM group, n = 36).

Aim: In our country, there are childhood vaccinations that are not included in the routine vaccination schedule and that families have to buy and have for a fee. In addition to income level, family physicians' recommendations also play a major role in getting these vaccines.Our study was planned to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of family physicians about rotavirus, HPV and meningococcal vaccines, which are not included in the routine vaccination scheme of the Ministry of Health.

Circumcision Knowledge and Opinions of Primary Healthcare Workers: The Case of Turkey.

This study evaluates the knowledge levels and opinions of Islamic primary healthcare workers regarding the medical indications of circumcision, its mode of application, contraindications, and possible complications together with the current literature. Our study was conducted with the participation of 400 healthcare personnel having Islamic faith and working in primary healthcare centers in Kahramanmaras. Data were collected through in-person interviews with healthcare workers who completed our questionnaire consisting of 52 questions and designed based on a literature review.

Objective: Cardiac autonomic neuropathy is a serious microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus that affects a significant portion of patients. Due to decreased parasympathetic activity, the sympathetic nervous system becomes dominant, causing several problems that lead to increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors have been shown to reduce sympathetic nervous system activity previously.

The Value of Intratumoral and Extratumoral Microvessel Density for the Tumor-dominated Area in the Endometrial Carcinoma.

Objective: Microvessel density (MVD) measuring angiogenesis can influence clinicopathologic variables in endometrial carcinoma (EC). MVD is usually assessed in the densest vascular area the tumor, but the distinction between intratumoral and extratumoral MVD is not reported, and tumor-dominated area is not examined for MVD in the EC in the literature.

Aim: Our study aims to adapt the "Contraceptive Knowledge Assessment-CKA" questionnaire which is a comprehensive foreign scale to Turkish due to the lack of a scale that is adequately developed in our country regarding contraceptive methods and then to conduct the validity and reliability study of the questionnaire by applying it.
