Background: The aim of this study was to arrange the treatment according to the etiology following the differential diagnosis in patients who had presented to the Orthopedics and Traumatology and General Surgery outpatient departments, and to emphasize the post-treatment success.

Method: The charts of 156 patients who had presented to the Orthopedics and Traumatology, General Surgery Departments of the Kafkas University Faculty of Medicine between July 2012 and June 2021 were retrospectively reviewed after permission was obtained from the ethics committee in this study. The demographic findings and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) results for those with a symptom of pain as detected during the physical examination were recorded from the patient charts.

Pneumatic versus laser ureteroscopic lithotripsy: a comparison of initial outcomes and cost.

Purpose: To audit the cost of laser versus pneumatic semirigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy and to analyze their relative initial outcomes and cost.

Methods: Hundred and eighty-seven patients who underwent semirigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy were analyzed retrospectively in terms of age and sex of the patients; location and size of the stones; the type of probe and ancillary equipment such as guide wire, basket catheter, JJ stent requirements; irrigation amount; operation time; the cost of the anesthesia and further treatments such as a JJ stent removal operation and shock wave lithotripsy requirements and their costs. Two groups were formed based on this type of lithotripters, pneumatic and laser lithotripsy.

[A postoperative wound myiasis caused by Lucilia sericata (Diptera: Calliphoridae) in a woman in Kars].

Lucilia sericata is known as a facultative ectoparasite and it often causes myiasis in open wounds, mouth, nose and eyes of animals and rarely in humans. This case report concerns a 56 year old woman who had right breast cancer surgery. Approximately 10 months after surgery, swelling, pain, redness occurred in the incision site.
