Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a common upper respiratory tract complication where the pathogenesis is largely unknown. Herein, we investigated the transcriptome profile in nasal mucosa biopsies of CRSwNP patients and healthy individuals. We further integrated the transcriptomics data with genes located in chromosomal regions containing genome-wide significant gene variants for COVID-19.

Background: Data on compliance to adjuvant endocrine treatment (ET) is mainly reported from prospective clinical trials or from smaller retrospective cohorts without correlation to outcome.
Aims: To determine compliance to adjuvant ET and the impact on survival in a population-based series of patients with early breast cancer (BC) advised ET.
Patients And Methods: 1090 consecutive patients with hormone receptor positive (HR+) stage I-III BC diagnosed from 1 January 1997 to 31 December 2003 from one health care region of Sweden were included.

Background: When ipsilateral multifocal primary breast cancer (IMBC) is detected, standard routine is to evaluate the largest tumor with immunohistochemistry (IHC). As all foci are not routinely characterized, many patients may not receive optimal adjuvant treatment. Here, we assess the clinical relevance of examining at least two foci present in patients with IMBC.

Introduction: Peritonitis remains a potentially serious complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD) treatment. It is therefore important to identify risk factors in order to reduce the incidence of peritonitis. The aim of the present analysis was to identify factors associated with time to first peritonitis episode.

Background: The role of the lung for the initiation and progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is still unclear. Up to 10% of RA patients develop interstitial lung disease which remains a clinical challenge. Understanding early disease mechanisms is of great importance.

Background: Preterm birth is the leading cause of childhood mortality and morbidity. We aimed to provide a comprehensive systematic review on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on progesterone, cerclage, pessary, and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) to prevent preterm birth in asymptomatic women with singleton pregnancies defined as risk of preterm birth and multifetal pregnancies.
Methods: Six databases (including PubMed, Embase, Medline, the Cochrane Library) were searched up to February 2022.

Aim: In juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a particularly challenging joint to assess both clinically and with imaging. The aim of this article is to investigate TMJ magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in relation to clinical and psychosocial factors in patients with JIA and healthy individuals related to TMJ arthritis in JIA.
Materials: In total, 45 patients (6-16 years) with JIA and 16 healthy age- and sex-matched controls were examined according to the diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD).

Objectives: Immunotherapy by blocking programmed death protein-1 (PD-1) or programmed death protein-ligand1 (PD-L1) with antibodies (PD-1 blockade) has revolutionized treatment options for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the benefit of immunotherapy is limited to a subset of patients. This study aimed to investigate the value of combining immune and genetic variables analyzed within 3-4 weeks after the start of PD-1 blockade therapy to predict long-term clinical response.

Purpose: Healthcare organisations are often described as less innovative than other organisations, since organisational culture works against innovations. In this paper, the authors ask whether it has to be that way or whether is possible to nurture an innovative culture in a healthcare organisation. The aim of this paper is to describe and analyse nurturing an innovative culture within a healthcare organisation and how culture can support innovations in such a healthcare organisation.

Background: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) increases preterm delivery (PTD) risk, but treatment trials showed mixed results in preventing PTD.
Objectives: Determine, using individual participant data (IPD), whether BV treatment during pregnancy reduced PTD or prolonged time-to-delivery.
Data Sources: Cochrane Systematic Review (2013), MEDLINE, EMBASE, journal searches, and searches (January 2013-September 2022) ("bacterial vaginosis AND pregnancy") of (i) clinicaltrials.

Background And Purpose: The sex of the surgeon has been proposed to be associated with a disparity in clinical outcomes after different surgical procedures. We investigated the association between surgeon-patient sex discordance and adverse events (AEs) and surgical AEs (SAEs) within 90 days after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). We also investigated patient-reported satisfaction with surgical outcomes 1 year after the surgery.

Purpose: Exfoliation glaucoma is a common and aggressive type of glaucoma with high prevalence in Scandinavia. The aim of this study was to elucidate whether the allele frequencies of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in LOXL1 were associated with the progression of exfoliation glaucoma in Swedish patients.
Methods: In this non-randomised cohort study, we enrolled patients with exfoliation glaucoma, and they performed at least five reliable visual field tests.

Background: Evaluations, using questionnaires, of a two-year long CPD program for on-call consultant paediatricians, showed that the overall objective of the program was largely met. We stipulate that the coherency of the CPD program contributed to the learning. To gains a deeper understanding of the participants learning within and beyond the overall objectives of the program, we decided to conduct an interview study enrolling participants from the first two CPD courses.

Early Symptomatic Syndromes Eliciting Neurodevelopmental Clinical Examinations (ESSENCE) is an umbrella term covering a wide range of neurodevelopmental difficulties and disorders. Thus, ESSENCE includes attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and difficulties, with a variety of symptoms in cognitive, motor, sensory, social, arousal, regulatory, emotional, and behavioral developmental domains, frequently co-occurring and likely having partly common neurobiological substrates. The ESSENCE concept is a clinical paradigm that promotes organizing NDDs in everyday clinical practice according to their coexistence, symptom dimensions overlapping, and treatment possibilities.

Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acute heart failure syndrome. Emotional or physical stressors are believed to precipitate TTS, while the pathophysiological mechanism is not yet completely understood. During the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, an increased incidence of TTS has been reported in some countries; however, the precise pathophysiological mechanism for developing TTS with acute COVID-19 infection is unknown.

Purpose: Determine the prevalence of symptoms of neurodevelopmental problems (NDPs) with a semi-structured review of fourth grade students' medical records, its interrater agreement and validity as compared with clinical assessment.
Methods: A school-based sample of 11-year-old children provided child health care (CHC) records and school health care (SHC) records. A pediatric neurologist, child psychiatrist and an adult psychiatrist scored the records, with the "Early Symptomatic Syndromes Eliciting Neurodevelopmental Clinical Examinations-Questionnaire" (ESSENCE-Q, 12 items scored 0-2, summary score range 0-24).

Extra-intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) strains are responsible for a large number of human infections globally. The management of infections caused by ExPEC has been complicated by the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, most importantly the increasing recognition of isolates producing extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL). Herein, we used whole-genome sequencing (WGS) on ExPEC isolates for a comprehensive genotypic characterization.

Purpose: Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a first-line intervention for glaucoma, with the aim to reduce the intraocular pressure (IOP). Topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are sometimes prescribed after SLT. However, it has been proposed that such treatment may either increase or reduce SLT efficacy.
