Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a common upper respiratory tract complication where the pathogenesis is largely unknown. Herein, we investigated the transcriptome profile in nasal mucosa biopsies of CRSwNP patients and healthy individuals. We further integrated the transcriptomics data with genes located in chromosomal regions containing genome-wide significant gene variants for COVID-19.

Background: When ipsilateral multifocal primary breast cancer (IMBC) is detected, standard routine is to evaluate the largest tumor with immunohistochemistry (IHC). Here, we assess the clinical relevance of examining at least two foci present in patients with IMBC.

We aimed to provide a comprehensive systematic review on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on progesterone, cerclage, pessary, and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) to prevent preterm birth in asymptomatic women with singleton pregnancies defined as risk of preterm birth and multifetal pregnancies.

Methods: Six databases (including PubMed, Embase, Medline, the Cochrane Library) were searched up to February 2022.

Background And Purpose: The sex of the surgeon has been proposed to be associated with a disparity in clinical outcomes after different surgical procedures. We investigated the association between surgeon-patient sex discordance and adverse events (AEs) and surgical AEs (SAEs) within 90 days after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). We also investigated patient-reported satisfaction with surgical outcomes 1 year after the surgery.

Purpose: Exfoliation glaucoma is a common and aggressive type of glaucoma with high prevalence in Scandinavia. The aim of this study was to elucidate whether the allele frequencies of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in LOXL1 were associated with the progression of exfoliation glaucoma in Swedish patients.

Methods: In this non-randomised cohort study, we enrolled patients with exfoliation glaucoma, and they performed at least five reliable visual field tests.

Objective: To identify predictors of flare in a 2-year follow-up study of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in sustained clinical remission tapering towards withdrawal of biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs).

Methods: Sustained clinical remission was defined as Disease Activity Score for 28 joints (DAS28)-C reactive protein (CRP) ≤2.6 without radiographic progression for >1 year.

Paediatric on-call consultants' learning within and beyond the objectives of a coherent CPD program.

Background: Evaluations, using questionnaires, of a two-year long CPD program for on-call consultant paediatricians, showed that the overall objective of the program was largely met. We stipulate that the coherency of the CPD program contributed to the learning. To gains a deeper understanding of the participants learning within and beyond the overall objectives of the program, we decided to conduct an interview study enrolling participants from the first two CPD courses.

Method: Fifteen parents were interviewed and data were analyzed beginning with content analysis and followed by thematic analysis.

Thus, ESSENCE includes attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) and difficulties, with a variety of symptoms in cognitive, motor, sensory, social, arousal, regulatory, emotional, and behavioral developmental domains, frequently co-occurring and likely having partly common neurobiological substrates. The ESSENCE concept is a clinical paradigm that promotes organizing NDDs in everyday clinical practice according to their coexistence, symptom dimensions overlapping, and treatment possibilities.

Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acute heart failure syndrome. Emotional or physical stressors are believed to precipitate TTS, while the pathophysiological mechanism is not yet completely understood. During the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, an increased incidence of TTS has been reported in some countries; however, the precise pathophysiological mechanism for developing TTS with acute COVID-19 infection is unknown.

The ESSENCE-Questionnaire in Medical Records Screening for Neurodevelopmental Symptoms/Problems: Utility and Clinical Validity.

Purpose: Determine the prevalence of symptoms of neurodevelopmental problems (NDPs) with a semi-structured review of fourth grade students' medical records, its interrater agreement and validity as compared with clinical assessment.

Methods: A school-based sample of 11-year-old children provided child health care (CHC) records and school health care (SHC) records. A pediatric neurologist, child psychiatrist and an adult psychiatrist scored the records, with the "Early Symptomatic Syndromes Eliciting Neurodevelopmental Clinical Examinations-Questionnaire" (ESSENCE-Q, 12 items scored 0-2, summary score range 0-24).

The management of infections caused by ExPEC has been complicated by the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, most importantly the increasing recognition of isolates producing extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL). Herein, we used whole-genome sequencing (WGS) on ExPEC isolates for a comprehensive genotypic characterization.
