Background: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) has a significant impact on public health and healthcare expenditures in the United States (US).
Methods: We used data from the CDC WONDER database from 1999-2020 to identify trends in the IHD-related mortality of patients ≥ 75 years in the US. AAMRs per 100,000 population and APC were calculated and categorized by year, sex, race, and geographic divisions.

German cockroaches (Blattella germanica (L.)) are a persistent pest in affordable housing and studies indicate that residents implement control on their own to deal with cockroaches within their homes. While many do-it-yourself (DIY) control options have proven ineffective, baits are widely considered to be a viable DIY solution for residents who do not have access to professional pest control services.

Despite available and effective prevention and treatment strategies for substance use disorders (SUD), drug overdose deaths in the US remain high. Further, limited public knowledge of SUD pharmacotherapies may contribute to increased stigmatization toward SUD medications and a lack of willingness to help people with SUD. This study evaluated knowledge and attitudes about SUD pharmacotherapies and willingness to help people with SUD among a sample of U.

Neural tube defects (NTDs) are the second most common congenital anomaly and have been widely associated with exposure to pesticides. This systematic review which analyzes the association between parental exposure to pesticides and NTDs was conducted in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. The search strategy was designed considering the population, exposure, controls, outcomes, and study design (PECOS).

The ability to rapidly respond to wildlife health events is essential. However, such events are often unpredictable, especially with anthropogenic disturbances and climate-related environmental changes driving unforeseen threats. Many events also are short-lived and go undocumented, making it difficult to draw on lessons learned from past investigations.

Background: Huntington's disease (HD) is a multifaceted neurological disorder characterized by the progressive deterioration of motor, cognitive, and psychiatric functions. Despite a limited understanding of its pathogenesis, research has implicated abnormal trinucleotide cytosine-adenine-guanine CAG repeat expansion in the huntingtin gene (HTT) as a critical factor. The development of innovative strategies is imperative for the early detection of predictive biomarkers, enabling timely intervention and mitigating irreversible cellular damage.

Few evidence-based trainings exist on how to equip healthcare providers, particularly nurses, with the skills to engage in cost of care conversations with patients/caregivers to mitigate the impact of cancer-related financial toxicity. This study evaluated a pilot training developed in collaboration with Triage Cancer to prepare oncology nurses to identify and assist patients/caregivers facing financial and/or legal barriers to care. Ten pediatric oncology nurses completed the training and pre/post-surveys on behaviors related to financial and legal need screening, frequency and comfort level of answering questions, knowledge, and behavior changes, along with training evaluation questions.

Despite the prevalence of images and texts in machine learning, tabular data remains widely used across various domains. Existing deep learning models, such as convolutional neural networks and transformers, perform well however demand extensive preprocessing and tuning limiting accessibility and scalability. This work introduces an innovative approach based on a structured state-space model (SSM), MambaTab, for tabular data.

Background: Chinese cancer survivors are not doing well in returning to work. Peer support, as an external coping resource to help cancer survivors return to work, brings together members of the lay community with similar stressors or problems for mutual support. Peer volunteers have not received systematic training, so inappropriate language in the support process can often cause secondary damage to both the peer and the cancer survivor.

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and VEGF receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors play a pivotal role in treating various tumors; however, the clinical characteristics and molecular mechanisms of their associated heart failure (HF) remain incompletely understood.
Methods: We investigated the epidemiological characteristics of VEGF or VEGFR inhibitors [VEGF(R)i]-related heart failure (VirHF) using the global pharmacovigilance database Vigibase. The phenotypic features and molecular mechanisms of VirHF were characterized using VEGF(R)i-treated mouse models through a combination of echocardiography, histopathological analysis, and transcriptome sequencing.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the surgical efficacy of one-stage and two-stage video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for bilateral multiple pulmonary nodules (BMPNs).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was made of 156 patients, 84 who underwent one-stage and 72 who underwent two-stage VATS for BMPNs at our department between January 2019 and December 2022. Perioperative and long-term outcomes were compared between the two groups using propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis.

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of machine learning-based PET/CT radiomics and clinical risk factors in predicting interim efficacy in patients with follicular lymphoma (FL).
Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from 97 patients with FL diagnosed via histopathological examination between July 2012 and November 2023. Lesion segmentation was performed using LIFEx software, and radiomics features were extracted through the uAI Research Portal (uRP) platform, including first-order features, shape features, and texture features.

Purpose: Catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF) has shown promising results in reducing mortality and improving heart function. However, previous studies have been limited by a lack of control groups and significant heterogeneity in their methodologies.
Hypothesis: CA for AF in HFPEF patients may not increase the complications and had similarly the rate of freedom from AF vs.

Inland-normal faulting is recognised as an important process following large subduction earthquakes. The lack of data limits the understanding of how normal fault reactivation relates to the subduction earthquake cycle. We characterised the palaeoseismology of the Atacama fault system (AFS) in the Chilean subduction zone.

Statement Of Problem: Staining at the gingival margin could impact denture longevity, but the behavior of gingival colored composite resins (GCCs) in this area remains unclear.
Purpose: This in vitro study evaluated surface staining, microleakage, and push-out bond strength at the gingival margin of artificial teeth, comparing two consistencies of GCCs with two resin base materials.
Material And Methods: Specimens included artificial teeth (Ivostar; Ivoclar AG) and two acrylic resin base materials: conventional (Ondacryl; Clássico) and high-impact (Diamond D; Keystone Industries) (n=300).

Ion transport in solid polymer electrolytes is crucial for applications like energy conversion and storage, as well as carbon dioxide capture. However, most of the materials studied in this area are petroleum-based. Natural materials (biopolymers) have the potential to act as alternatives to petroleum-based products and, when derived with ionic liquid (IL) functionalities, present a sustainable alternative for conductive materials by offering tunable morphological, thermal, and mechanical properties.
