Introduction: Osteoradionecrosis (ORN), a non-infectious, necrotic condition of the bone, occurs as a major complication of radiotherapy to the irradiated site. Simple irrigation of the involved bone to partial or complete resection of the involved bones is being employed in its conventional management. Osseous tissue engineering (OTE) provides a new strategy by regenerating bone cells along with biocompatible scaffolds and micromolecules to produce an engineered osseous tissue.

Molecular docking of potential inhibitors with the mTOR protein.

Bioinformation

January 2021

DBT-BIF Centre, PG & Research Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Holy Cross College (Autonomous), Trichy, Tamilnadu, India.

The mTOR (mammalian or mechanistic Target of Rapamycin) is linked with oral cancer. Therefore, it is of interest to study the molecular docking-based binding of paclitaxel (a FDA approved drug for oral cancer) and its analogues with mTOR. Hence, we report the binding features of 10-Deacetyltaxol, 7-Epi-10-deacetyltaxol, 7-Epi-Taxol and 6alpha-Hydroxypaclitaxel with mTOR for further consideration.

Molecular docking of alkaloid compounds with the matrix metalloproteinase 2.

Bioinformation

January 2021

Department of Biochemistry and Department of Clinical Skills & Simulation, Department of Research, Panimalar Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Varadharajapuram, Poonamallee, Chennai - 600 123.

Matrix metalloproteinase protein-2 (MMP-2) is linked to the human oral squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, it is of interest to design new inhibitors for MMP-2 to combat the disease. Thus, we document the molecular docking features of Aristolochic acid, Cryptopleurine, Epipodophyllotoxin, and Fagaronine with MMP-2 for further consideration.

Molecular modeling of cornulin (CRNN) for docking with phytocompounds from Justicia adhatoda L.

Bioinformation

January 2021

Department of Biochemistry, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha University, Chennai - 600 077, India.

Cornulin (CRNN) is linked with tumour progression. Therefore, it is of interest to document data on the molecular modeling of cornulin (CRNN) for docking with phytocompounds (Pyrazinamide, Anisotine, Vasicinone, Vasicoline) from Justicia adhatoda L. Thus, we document the optimal binding features of these compounds with the cornulin model for further consideration.

Reconstruction of craniofacial bony defects has always been a challenging task for the surgeons over the years. The science of reconstructing such defects is of at most importance to craniofacial and plastic surgeons due to its relevance in facial aesthetics function as well as prerequisite procedure for continuing other surgical procedures. The main goal of the reconstruction of the craniofacial defects is to reduce the morbidity by restoring the facial form and aesthetics, as well as a good function of the facial structures by achieving a reasonable occlusion and articulation.

Mast cell expression in oral lichen planus: A systematic review.

J Investig Clin Dent

November 2019

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai, India.

Lichen planus is a common chronic, inflammatory, immune-mediated mucocutaneous disorder affecting the skin and mucosa. The role of mast cells in the genesis of lichen planus has been debated. Establishing a definitive part played by mast cells and its degranulation would possibly provide a permanent, cost-effective treatment modality for oral lichen planus (OLP).

Congenital eventration of the diaphragm is a rare disorder, the perioperative management of which is challenging. The introduction of thoracoscopic repair of these defects has considerably reduced the perioperative morbidity and mortality in these patients. In spite of the advantages of thoracoscopy which include smaller chest incisions, reduced postoperative pain, and more rapid postoperative recovery compared with thoracotomy, it is still inherent with complications unique to it.
