Background: Anti-angiogenic agents, such as nintedanib and ramucirumab, when combined with docetaxel, are subsequent treatment options in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have failed on first-line chemotherapy or immunochemotherapy. Study Question: Is there an association between different mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) genotypes and female infertility or ovarian response, and is the appearance of variants in the oocytes favored by medically assisted reproduction (MAR) techniques?

Summary Answer: Ovarian response was negatively associated with global non-synonymous protein-coding homoplasmic variants but positively associated with haplogroup K; the number of oocytes retrieved in a cycle correlates with the number of heteroplasmic variants in the oocytes, principally with variants located in the hypervariable (HV) region and rRNA loci, as well as non-synonymous protein-coding variants.

What Is Known Already: Several genes have been shown to be positively associated with infertility, and there is growing concern that MAR may facilitate the transmission of these harmful variants to offspring, thereby passing on infertility. The potential role of mtDNA variants in these two perspectives remains poorly understood.

Two retrogene insertions, FGF4L1 (formerly 18-FGF4, colloquially CDPA) and FGF4L2 (formerly 12-FGF4, colloquially CDDY), have recently been discovered as determinants of short leg phenotype in dogs. This case study is comprised of a family of standard wirehaired dachshunds in which the dogs lacking the FGF4L1 gene exhibit a tall phenotype. The tall phenotype in the dachshunds of this report precludes the dog's working function of den work.

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) are two rare autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating diseases involving the central nervous system, which are often seen with combined involvement of the optic nerve and spinal cord. MOGAD can be confused with multiple sclerosis or NMOSD, due to its clinical presentation that may be similar and its characteristic to progress with habitual attacks. This study evaluated the efficiency of a rapid resynchronization of ovulation program to allow timed embryo transfer (TET) every 21d in heifer embryo recipients. Holstein heifers (n = 510) had synchronized ovulation using a modified 5d CoSynch program for a TET (D7) after induced ovulation (D0). After TET, heifers were blocked by number of previous TETs and randomized into one of two resynchronization of ovulation programs: Resynch28 (n = 279), a traditional resynch program for TET 35d after previous TET; or ReBreed21-ET, a program designed to allow TET 21d after previous TET.
