A retrospective radiographic and histopathologic study of pathology associated with impacted teeth and other regions in patients at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: An institutional study.

Background: To examine the prevalence and pattern of pathology related to impacted teeth and other areas in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Government Dental College in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Material And Methods: This 5-year single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the government dental college and hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar between 2019 and 2024. Based on age, sex, area, presence of impacted tooth, radiological and histopathological report.

Periosteal pedicle graft: A novel root coverage approach.

Gingival recession along with reduced width of attached gingiva and inadequate vestibular depth is a very common finding. Many techniques have been adopted in order to treat such defects and obtain predictable root coverage. Several graft procedures are used to obtain the coverage, but they have not been able to deliver predictable and satisfactory results (except connective tissue graft).

A 47-year-old male patient reported to the Department of Periodontology, with a chief complaint of pus discharge from maxillary left central incisors with dull intermittent pain. On clinical examination, a localized gingival inflammation was present with soft edematous tissue with the accumulation of plaque and calculus with #11 and #21. Periodontal examination depicts a periodontal pocket depth of 11 mm on mesial aspect and 8 mm on midbuccal aspect of #21 with no mobility.

An atypical form of cervicofacial actinomycosis treated with short but intensive antibiotic regimen.

Human actinomycosis is a rare soft tissue infection caused by Gram-positive, anaerobic bacteria Actinomyces israelii, a commensal of the oral cavity. The major clinical forms of actinomycosis are cervicofacial, thoracic, abdominal and pelvic forms. The cervicofacial region is most commonly affected.

Dentigerous cyst associated with an impacted anterior maxillary supernumerary tooth.

Most typical dentigerous cysts are commonly seen in association with third molars and maxillary canines. Only 5-6% of dentigerous cysts are associated with supernumerary teeth. We report a rare case of dentigerous cyst associated with an impacted anterior maxillary supernumerary tooth.

Overlap syndrome: a diagnostic dilemma.

We report an interesting case of a young patient who came with a concern for missing teeth and lack of hair on scalp and body. Examination revealed complete absence of teeth, absence of eyebrows, eyelashes and hair over scalp. He was short-statured, had hyperextensible joints and hyperelastic skin, protuberant lips and many other anomalies such that the overall pattern of defects was not recognisable.
