Operational Distal Shoe Appliance for Harmonious Occlusion: A Case Report.

Int J Clin Pediatr Dent

October 2024

Department of Pediatric and Prevntive Dentistry, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, KIIT (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.

Unlabelled: Preserving deciduous teeth till their natural exfoliation is important to maintain arch length in different dentition periods. Premature loss of primary teeth may cause discrepancy in arch length due to drifting of teeth and supraeruption of the opposite teeth, thereby hindering the development of a harmonious, functionally and esthetically acceptable dentition. This article describes the fabrication and clinical application of a modified functional distal shoe appliance used due to pathological obliteration of the primary/deciduous mandibular second molar prior to the eruption of the permanent mandibular first molar.

Optically active ultrabright imaging agents are shown to delineate tumor location with deep tissue visualization in pre noclinical tumor models. NanoGhosts (NGs) particles are reconstructed from the cell membrane and integrated with organic fluorophores to attain ultra-brightness for solid tumor imaging. Moreover, the integration of amphiphilic and lipophilic molecules reveals structural characteristics of NGs (≈70 nm), which also alter their brightness.

Background: Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is employed in caries prevention and treatment; however, tooth discoloration post treatment is a significant disadvantage, which can be reduced using glutathione (GSH), a water soluble tripeptide.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the effect of glutathione biomolecule (GSH) and potassium iodide (KI) along with SDF on tooth discoloration and shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement (GIC) on the tooth surface.

Methods: Artificial caries were created on 48 extracted unblemished premolars and divided into four groups (SDF, SDF + KI, SDF + GSH, and Water).

Controlling excitons and their transport in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructures is central to advancing photonics and electronics on-chip integration. We investigate the controlled generation and manipulation of excitons and their complexes in monolayer MoSe-WSe lateral heterostructures (LHSs). Incorporating graphene as a back gate and edge contact in a field-effect transistor geometry, we achieve the precise electrical tuning of exciton complexes and their transfer across interfaces.

Apexification is the process of forming mineralized tissue at the apical portion of a tooth with an incompletely formed root. Although various materials and techniques for the endodontic treatment of such teeth have been employed for some time, selecting the appropriate material remains challenging due to limited literature. This report presents a case that evaluates the efficacy of a modified apexification procedure using mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), followed by a walking-bleach technique to address discoloration resulting from trauma to anterior teeth.
