Tobacco use is a significant risk factor for periodontal disease, a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Early detection and intervention are crucial for preventing the progression of periodontal disease and its associated complications. This review paper explores recent innovations in the screening and diagnosis of periodontal disease, with a focus on advancements in technology and methodologies for assessing periodontal health in tobacco users.

Objective: A combination of peripheral blood mesenchymal stem cells (PBMSCs) and platelet rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) could be a probable periodontal regenerative material with the synergy of the added benefits of each material. This randomized controlled clinical trial aimed to evaluate the regenerative capacity of supercell (PRFM and PBMSCs) compared with that of PRFM alone in human periodontal mandibular intraosseous defects (IOD).
Methodology: This study included 17 patients of both sexes (12 men, 5 women) aged 30-55 years (mean age = 37.

Background: The antimicrobial activity of metallic nanoparticles (NPs) has been confirmed to fight a broad spectrum of microorganisms, through antimicrobial effects that are amplified when these particles are irradiated with light of the proper wavelength. This is the first study to use phytoconjugated Zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs containing traces of active biomolecules derived from Emblica officinalis (E. officinalis) plant extract in antimicrobial photocatalysis (PCT) during non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Aim: The aim was to evaluate the effect of bulk-fill composites - Activa and Smart Dentin Replacement (SDR) on cuspal deflection in endodontically treated teeth with different access cavity designs.
Materials And Methods: Forty-two maxillary first premolar teeth were randomly divided into three experimental groups based on different access designs as Group I - conservative endodontic cavities (CECs), Group II - traditional endodontic cavities, and Group III - CECs with diverging walls and two subgroups, based on the different access cavity restorations subgroup A-Activa and subgroup B-SDR with = 7 per group. Root canal treatment was completed under the dental operating microscope.

Background: Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) has not been extensively studied as other platelet concentrates such as Choukron's platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate PRFM regenerative ability in human periodontal intrabony defects.
Materials And Methods: Fifteen patients (age: 30-55 years) having probing pocket depth (PPD) ≥6 mm, and radiographic evidence of bilateral vertical intrabony defects were recruited.

Background: Silver diamine fluoride (SDF, 38%) is an efficient topical fluoride used to arrest dental caries though it causes black staining of both teeth and restoration. The application of potassium iodide (KI) after SDF reduces the stain, but the color change is only temporary. An alternative method suggested is by mixing glutathione (GSH) with SDF, which preserves the silver ions of SDF within the solution.

Objective: To assess the influence of changing the size and position of lever arm on transverse and vertical bowing effects during retraction in lingual biomechanics.
Methods: A three dimensional 3D finite element method was used to simulate en masse anterior teeth retraction using lingual appliance with sliding mechanics. Two groups were made, 1st group had lever arm mesial to canine while 2nd group had distal to canine.

Orthodontic alignment of a horizontally impacted canine placed high and deep in the maxilla represents a challenging clinical scenario. This article describes a case report of a 16-year-old postpubertal male patient who was concerned about an unesthetic smile. The clinical and radiographic investigations revealed that the patient had retained deciduous canines and bilaterally impacted maxillary canines.

The treatment of gingival recession is a frequent demand due to aesthetic concern, root caries, and /or root hypersensitivity. The purpose of this case study was to evaluate the success and predictability of coronally advanced flap (CAF) in combination with peripheral blood mesenchymal stem cells (PBMSCs) and platelet rich fibrin matrix(PRFM) for the management of Miller's Class II gingival recession. CAF followed by placement of PBMSCs and PRFM was performed on a male patient, aged 25 years having Miller's Class II gingival recession of 5-6 mm on the upper left canine, premolars and molars.

Introduction: Dentinal hypersensitivity (DH), is a commonly encountered clinical problem, the management of which is by two main approaches that involve blockage of nerve activity and tubular occlusion. Desensitizing agents containing arginine and calcium carbonate have emerged effective in occluding tubules. Ozone removes the smear layer and opens up the dentinal tubules for easy penetration of these desensitizing agents.

Biofilms are ubiquitous in nature and are invariably associated with health and diseases of all living beings. Periodontal diseases & dental caries are the most prevalent conditions in which biofilm has established as a primary causative factor. Managing poly-microbial biofilm is the mainstay of periodontal therapy.

Periodontal disease (PD), a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by destruction of the supporting tissues of the teeth, increases the risk of complications in diabetics. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a microvascular complication of prolonged hyperglycaemia. There appears to be a similarity in the pathogenesis of DR and PD.

Background: Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) are lesions from which malignancy is more likely to develop that from other tissues. The potential for malignant transformation of OPMDs is estimated by determining the degree of dysplastic changes in the epithelium. Dysplasia grading has been criticized for lack of reproducibility and poor predictive value but is still considered the gold standard for diagnosing OPMDs.

Introduction: Dental Implants are the norm of today's prosthetic and restorative dentistry but, is it the answer for edentulism that can affect both individual's appearance and functioning, therefore having an impact on the psychological and the social well being of the person is an ongoing quest. Also, patient's beliefs and personal expectations for dental implants vary, which may influence the treatment outcome, thus emphasizing the importance of a good clinician-patient communication. Hence in this study a qualitative analysis was carried out with an earnest attempt to gain an insight into patient's motivations, personal expectations, satisfaction and impact of clinician's motivation for implant maintenance.
