Background: Various authors have shown that Cruciate Retaining (CR) Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) has better long-term survivorship compared to Posterior Stabilized (PS), however most arthroplasty surgeons tend to use PS knees in patients with severe deformity and stiffness. There is limited data correlating stiffness and CR versus PS design. The aim of our study was to assess the outcome of CR TKA for patients with stiff arthritic knee.

Backgroud: the ideal route and accuracy of subacromial injections in shoulder pathologies are often questioned. This study aimed at comparing anterior and posterior injections in terms of subacromial space dye localization and diagnostic accuracy. We hypothesized that posterior injections would prove more accurate.

Background: Tenecteplase (TNK-tPA) is a promising third-generation plasminogen activator, because of its greater fibrin specificity and longer half-life than alteplase. There is a paucity of studies on intravenous thrombolysis using TNK-tPA in developing countries. The present study has been undertaken to compare the efficacy and safety of TNK-tPA with alteplase.

How to define pathologic pelvic floor descent in MR defecography during defecation?

Abdom Radiol (NY)

December 2018

Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, University Hospital Zurich, Raemistrasse 100, 8091, Zurich, Switzerland.

Objectives: To assess the extents of pelvic floor descent both during the maximal straining phase and the defecation phase in healthy volunteers and in patients with pelvic floor disorders, studied with MR defecography (MRD), and to define specific threshold values for pelvic floor descent during the defecation phase.

Material And Methods: Twenty-two patients (mean age 51 ± 19.4) with obstructed defecation and 20 healthy volunteers (mean age 33.

Liver vascular anatomy: a refresher.

Abdom Radiol (NY)

August 2018

Department of Radiology, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN, 55905, USA.

To prevent and decrease procedural complications, it is important to identify variants of hepatic vascular anatomy before interventional radiologic procedures, surgery, and liver transplantation. Knowledge of the vascular variants helps in selecting patients and in exploring alternative management options. Non-invasive detailed demonstration of the hepatic vascular anatomy is possible with advanced multi-detector computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.

Critical to the success of a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is the anatomical alignment. This may appear as a challenge in an extra-articular deformity (EAD) that may be inherent in certain people or result from fracture malunion, congenital disorders, nutritional, metabolic and infective causes. This appraisal aimed at providing the reader with an up-todate overview of the research carried out on, and existent evidence of EAD correction while planning a TKA.

Background: Arthroscopic reconstruction of torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) with bone patellar tendon bone autograft (BTB) has become the gold standard in treating ACL tear with high success rate. The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the functional outcome after arthroscopic ACL reconstruction using BTB via Rigidfix femoral fixation.

Materials And Method: We evaluated the result of 21 knees that have been treated with arthroscopic ACL reconstruction using BTB autograft for femoral fixation and bioabsorbable interference screw for tibia from March 2014 to August 2015.

Background: Isolated tuberculous tenosynovitis and bursitis are rare among musculoske let al tuberculosis, but it is one of the major causes for chronic tendon sheath infection in developing countries. In hand, it is usually presented as a compound palmer ganglion (radio ulnar bursa), tenosynovitis of the flexer tendon sheaths and very few cases of tubercular tenosynovitis affecting the extensor tendons also are reported.

Case Presentation: We are reporting a rare case of tuberculous extensor tenosynovitis with rupture of the extensor digitorum tendon in an elderly Indian man.

Background: Revision total hip arthroplasty is a technically demanding procedure which has gained importance for more than two decades. It was a nightmare for revision surgeons during its initial years of inception before the advent of extended trochanteric osteotomy (ETO). This technique gains access to the femoral medullary canal without compromising the bone stock and aids removal of primary implant and cement mantle without further damaging the parent bone.

The aim of the study was to investigate the levels of lipid peroxidation, and both plasma and erythrocyte antioxidant states in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The population consisted of 60 subjects divided into two groups, 30 subjects had evidence of rheumatoid arthritis and age and sex matched healthy subjects were studied as controls. The level of plasma and erythrocyte thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) was markedly increased in both the rheumatoid arthritis patients when compared to control subjects.

Oxidative stress plays an important role in malignant transformation and is postulated to be associated with increased lipid peroxidation. We determined the effects of chronic cigarette smoking on lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status in 100 male patients with gastric cancer and an equal number of age-matched healthy control subjects. The mean (SD) level of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) was higher in plasma (healthy non-smokers 3.
