Acute myocardial infarction-related cardiogenic shock (AMI-CS) is a severe, life-threatening condition characterised by inadequate tissue perfusion due to the heart's inability to pump blood effectively. The pathophysiology of AMI-CS usually arises from the sudden loss of myocardial contractility, leading to a decrease in cardiac output and systemic hypoperfusion. In approximately 90% of AMI-CS cases, the left ventricle is the primary site of dysfunction.

Aim: Estimate the incidence of asthma among children aged 0 to 15 years in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden during 2000-2017.
Methods: Cases of preschool asthma (up to 6 years) and school-age asthma (from 6 years) were identified through national registers using an algorithm including hospital diagnoses and prescription medicines. The respective cumulative incidence (CI) was estimated in 1-year age intervals for each country and birth year.

Objectives: Rocking motion therapy has been shown to calm people with dementia but has never been investigated in delirious patients in the ICU. The aim of this clinical trial was to investigate the efficacy and safety of a rocking motion vs. nonrocking motion chair on the duration of delirium and intensity of agitation in ICU patients with delirium.

This is a case report of a rare hypoglossal nerve paresis after tonsillectomy in a healthy 29-year-old woman. While she made a full recovery, she experienced 6-8 weeks of dysphagia, dysarthria and had to be readmitted because of dehydration. As direct intraoperative trauma is unlikely due to the protected course of the nerve, we discuss possible mechanisms and suggest precautions to avoid similar neuropraxia - such as avoiding overinflation of the laryngeal mask airway, regularly relieving the tongue pressure and using careful manipulation of the tongue base if necessary.

Background: Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is a significant concern in patients with cancer but understanding its prevalence and risk factors in patients with malignant melanoma (MMPs) remains limited. This study explores CRCI via a multifaceted approach integrating neurobiological, genetic, and psychological assessments.
Methods: Cognitive functioning across multiple domains was assessed via neuropsychological tests in 47 MMPs before adjuvant immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, compared with 53 matched healthy controls (HCs).
Introduction: Christmas parties, a longstanding Danish tradition, became festive occasions in the 1960s. This study examines if healthcare professionals, especially doctors and nurses, have larger bladder capacities than the general population, as they often delay restroom breaks.

Introduction: The holiday season poses a unique challenge for hospital staff, especially on night shifts, who must juggle their duties with preparing a festive Christmas meal. This study investigates the novel idea of using hospital MRI scanners to cook duck breasts during shifts. MRI scanners, which use magnetic fields and radiofrequency (RF) pulses for imaging, also generate heat, potentially suitable for cooking.

Objective: Rapid and accurate infection diagnosis is a prerequisite for appropriate antibiotic prescriptions in an ED. Accurately diagnosing acute infections can be difficult due to nonspecific symptoms and limitations of diagnostic testing. The accuracy of preliminary diagnoses, established on the initial clinical assessment, depends on a physician's skills and knowledge.

Objective: Occipital Nerve Stimulation (ONS) is increasingly used to treat a range of chronic, refractory headache conditions, most notably chronic cluster headache (CCH). Despite this, there is still no consensus on the optimal implantation technique. Clinical reports and reviews in the field have reported remarkably high complication rates of which several can be directly related to the surgical approach.
