Background: International studies show increasing prevalence of anxiety and depression among children. Parents are vital for children in all aspects of life, also in supporting their offspring in promoting better mental health, life skills and reducing emotional difficulties. Therefore, involving parents in interventions aimed at preventing development of anxiety and depression is natural.

We compared mortality and cancer incidence (for the first time) in a UK cohort occupationally exposed to high levels of styrene to that of the general population of England and Wales.
Methods: The follow-up for mortality ran from 1969 to 2022, while the follow-up for cancer incidence ran from 1971 to 2020.

Background: Administering intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) as soon as possible after symptom onset impacts on the functional outcome for patients with acute ischaemic stroke. The study aimed to assess whether the distance from hospital impacts on the access to IVT for acute ischaemic stroke at the University Hospital of North Norway in Tromsø (UNN Tromsø).
Material And Method: This prospective quality study included 231 patients admitted with acute ischaemic stroke to UNN in the period 1 January 2019-31 December 2019.

Background: First-time documentation of rare diseases is normally in the form of case reports. These are typically based on unexpected observations by vigilant clinicians and lead to further research on prevalence and aetiology. One of the best-known Norwegian examples is Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome.

This study investigated how children's punishment affective states change over time, as well as when children begin to prioritise intentions over outcomes in their punishment decisions. Whereas most prior research sampled children from Anglo-America or Northwestern Europe, we tested 5- to 11-year-old children from Colombia and Spain (N = 123). We focused on punishment behaviour in response to ostensibly real moral transgressions, rather than punishment recommendations for hypothetical moral transgressions.

Histidine is a key amino-acid residues in proteins that can exist in three different protonation states: two different neutral tautomeric forms and a protonated, positively charged one. It can act as both donor and acceptor of hydrogen bonds, coordinate metal ions, and engage in acid/base catalysis. Human Carbonic Anhydrase II (HCA II) is a pivotal enzyme catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide.

The Water Framework Directive protects groundwater-dependent terrestrial ecosystems, but its concepts and definitions remain unclear. This paper aims to clarify the margin of discretion for the Member States, by applying a cross-disciplinary legal and biological analysis. We conclude that description of the protected ecosystems must include at least key components and processes and be based on a number of well-known groundwater-dependent habitats, but not restricted to habitats fed entirely by groundwater.

Acute cholecystitis, often caused by gallstones obstructing the cystic duct, is a potentially life-threatening condition that requires timely intervention. High-risk patients, particularly those with significant comorbidities, may not be suitable candidates for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, necessitating alternative drainage techniques such as percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) and endoscopic gallbladder drainage (EGD). This systematic review aims to compare the efficacy, safety, and outcomes of PC and EGD in managing acute cholecystitis in high-risk surgical patients.

Purpose: is one of the most frequently mutated genes in intellectual disability cohorts. Thus, far few adult-aged patients with -related disorder have been described, which limits our understanding of the disease's natural history and our ability to counsel patients and their families.
Methods: Data on patients aged 18+ years with -related disorder were collected through an online questionnaire completed by clinicians and parents.

Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) is an enzyme with multiple conformations. In its open conformation, TG2 exhibits transamidase activity linked to fibrosis, arterial remodeling, and endothelial dysfunction, a process enhanced by high glucose in endothelial cells. However, the closed conformation of TG2 contributes to transmembrane signaling and nitric oxide (NO)-dependent vasorelaxation.

Background: Children and young people (CYP) with primary brain tumour (PBT) are at high risk for developing late effects, potentially affecting long-term quality of life (QoL). In low-income and middle-income countries, QoL has not been studied in depth in CYP. In the present study, CYP treated for PBTs in Pakistan were evaluated regarding (A) mean change in QoL scores pretreatment and 12 months post-treatment and (B) predictors of change in QoL scores 12 months post-treatment.

The formation of the MUC17-based glycocalyx in the mouse small intestine occurs at the critical suckling-weaning transition. The glycocalyx extends 1 µm into the intestinal lumen and prevents the gut bacteria from directly attaching to the enterocytes.

The belching reflex involves transient lower oesophageal sphincter relaxation and relaxation of the cricopharyngeus (CP). In some individuals, the latter stage fails, leading to return of gas to the stomach. This pattern is then repeated, which is accompanied by chest pain and loud, gurgling noises.

Self-assembly synthesis of mixed-ligand (silsesquioxane/acetate) complex allows to isolate record high nuclear copper(II) Cu13-cage (1). In the presence of two additional sodium ions, a unique molecular architecture, with triple combination of ligands (cyclic and acyclic silsesquioxanes as well as acetates), has been formed. The structure was established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction based on the use of synchrotron radiation.

This study examines if healthcare professionals, especially doctors and nurses, have larger bladder capacities than the general population, as they often delay restroom breaks.
Methods: At the North Zealand University Hospital Department of Anesthesiology's 2023 Christmas party, participants delayed urination until a strong urge occurred.

Introduction: Many children expect a visit from Santa Claus, preferably on Christmas Eve and the teasing goblins are active teasing throughout the month of December. Therefore, Santa Claus and goblins must be in good shape for the activities of December. Rice pudding, Christmas pancakes, and other goodies are consumed in large quantities to help both the size of Santa Claus as well as the activity level of the Christmas teasing.

Introduction: The template method (TM), pioneered by Ozaki for aortic valve neocuspidization (AVNeo), has been widely adopted for aortic valve replacement, though it requires specialized instruments. This study introduces a novel formula method (FM), which uses the diameter of the aortic valve fibrous ring (AV-D) to determine the dimensions of the neocusps to be trimmed from autologous without the need for templates, potentially reducing costs and complexity. We aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of the FM with the established TM in patients undergoing AVNeo.

Seed amplification assays (SAAs) are a promising avenue for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases. However, when amplifying fibrils from patient-derived samples in multiwell plates, it is currently highly challenging to accurately quantify the aggregates. It is therefore desirable to transfer such assays into a digital format in microemulsion droplets to enable direct quantification of aggregate numbers.

Cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) enables the mapping of protein-protein interactions on the cellular level. When applied to all compartments of mitochondria, the sheer number of cross-links and connections can be overwhelming, rendering simple cluster analyses convoluted and uninformative. To address this limitation, we integrate the XL-MS data, 3D electron microscopy data, and localization annotations with a supra coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation to sort all data, making clusters more accessible and interpretable.
