Rationale And Objectives: To assess whether academic radiology departments and residency programs with efforts toward supporting and augmenting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are associated with a higher proportion of residents from diverse backgrounds.

Materials And Methods: Program Directors within the Radiology Residency Education Research Alliance were surveyed to gather information about program characteristics, incorporation of diversity in resident recruitment, the sponsoring department's commitment to efforts at expanding diversity, and a summary of their current and past residents, staff and faculty members (academic years 2020 and 2023) with respect to a list of diversity characteristics.

Results: Survey response rate was 51 %.

This review emphasises the significance of comprehensive diabetes management in addressing the heightened risk of dementia in this population.

Endobronchial Obstruction: A Case of Well-Differentiated Liposarcoma.

Atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma (ALT/WDL) is a rare subtype of endobronchial tumor that has been rarely reported in medical literature. Due to its low incidence, distinguishing it from endobronchial lipoma poses a significant diagnostic challenge, necessitating histopathologic and cytogenetic analysis. As of today, the treatment and surveillance protocols for these neoplasms remain poorly defined, often resulting in their misclassification and treatment as endobronchial lipomas.

Background And Aim: Obesity affects nearly 650 million adults worldwide, and the prevalence is steadily rising. This condition has significant adverse effects on cardiovascular health, increasing the risk of hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation (AF). While anticoagulation for obese patients with AF is a well-established therapy for the prevention of thromboembolism, the safety and efficacy of different anticoagulants in this specific population are not well explored.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) may be associated with hyperprogressive disease (HPD). Association Between Chronic Liver Disease and Adverse In-Hospital Outcomes in Patients Undergoing CABG: A Propensity Score-Matched Analysis.

Despite a 30% decrease in the rate over the last decade, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery remains a common major surgical procedure with significant morbidity and mortality. Chronic liver disease (CLD) patients, with increased survival rates because of medical advancements, are now frequently being considered for CABG, bearing higher perioperative risks. This study investigates the association between CLD and in-hospital outcomes in CABG patients using retrospective data from the National Inpatient Sample database (2016 to 2020) including 7,945 CLD patients who underwent CABG that were propensity score-matched with an equivalent number of patients without CLD who underwent CABG.

Introduction: A major limitation in Alzheimer's disease (AD) research is the lack of the ability to measure cognitive performance at scale-robustly, remotely, and frequently. Currently, there are no established online digital platforms validated against plasma biomarkers of AD.

Methods: We used a novel web-based platform that assessed different cognitive functions in AD patients ( = 46) and elderly controls ( = 53) who were also evaluated for plasma biomarkers (amyloid beta 42/40 ratio, phosphorylated tau ([p-tau]181, glial fibrillary acidic protein, neurofilament light chain).

Esophageal leiomyoma within an epinephric diverticulum.

Epinephric diverticula are distal esophageal pouches protruding from the epithelial lining of the esophagus while esophageal leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle lesions that constitute a significant percentage of all gastrointestinal leiomyomas. Epinephric diverticula and esophageal leiomyomas are common individually but their co-existence is rare. Moreover, they present asymptomatically but can occasionally present with complains of dysphagia and weight loss.

Background: Left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LVGLS) has been recommended by current guidelines for diagnosing anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity. However, little is known about the early changes in left atrial (LA) morphology and function in this population. Our study aimed to evaluate the potential usefulness of LA indices and their incremental value to LVGLS with three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) in the early detection of subclinical cardiotoxicity in patients with lymphoma receiving anthracycline.

Hemospray (TC-325; Cook Medical, Winston-Salem, NC) has been used effectively in hemostasis in non-variceal upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Current guidelines suggest using Hemospray as a temporizing measure or adjunct technique. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hemospray as a modality for primary hemostasis.

Current Status of Anti-Reflux Surgery as a Treatment for GERD.

Anti-reflux surgery (ARS) is an efficient treatment option for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Despite growing evidence of the efficacy and safety of ARS, medications including proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) remain the most commonly administered treatments for GERD. Meanwhile, ARS can be an effective treatment option for patients who need medications continuously or for those who are refractory to PPI treatment, if proper candidates are selected.

Elevated DAS28-ESR in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who have comorbid fibromyalgia is associated more with tender joint counts than with patient global assessment or swollen joint counts: implications for assessment of inflammatory activity.

Objectives: More than 20% of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients have comorbid fibromyalgia (FM+), which may elevate DAS28-ESR (disease activity score 28-erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and other indices, resulting in challenges to assess inflammatory disease activity. Although several reports indicate that elevated patient global assessment (PATGL) may elevate DAS28 in the absence of inflammatory activity, less information is available concerning the other three components, tender joint count (TJC), swollen joint count (SJC), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), to possibly elevate DAS28 in FM+ vs. FM- RA patients.

Assessing the Impact of Comorbid Hypercalcemia on Inpatient Outcomes of Patients With Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma During Admission for Chemotherapy.

Introduction Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) may be complicated by hypercalcemia at various stages of treatment. The impact of hypercalcemia on chemotherapy admission outcomes in DLBCL is not well described.  Methods In a retrospective analysis, using the National Inpatient Sample database (2018 - 2020), patients with DLBCL admitted for chemotherapy were dichotomized based on the presence of hypercalcemia.

Same-Day Discharge for Pediatric Hemithyroidectomy Patients: Evaluating Safety and Barriers to Discharge.

Objective: Hemithyroidectomy is often performed in the pediatric population for indeterminate or benign thyroid nodules. Prior studies confirmed the safety of same-day discharge for adults undergoing hemithyroidectomy or total thyroidectomy, but this has not been studied thoroughly in the pediatric population. Our goal was to determine differences in pediatric patients undergoing hemithyroidectomy who were admitted versus discharged for complications or factors to support same-day discharge.
