Ovarian cancer is usually detected in the advanced stages. Existing treatments for high grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) are not adequate and approximately fifty percent of patients succumb to this disease and die within five years after diagnosis. We conducted pre-clinical studies in a mouse model of ovarian cancer to evaluate disease outcome in response to treatment with the multi-kinase inhibitor cabozantinib.

Purpose Of Review: This article explores the unique intersection of the challenges confronting ambulatory anesthesiology education and charts a trajectory forward. The proportion of ambulatory, nonoperating room (NORA), and office-based surgical cases continues to rise; however, the requirements for trainees in these settings have remained static. The rapid evolution of the field combined with a limited workforce also makes continuing education essential, and we discuss the current and future states of ambulatory anesthesia education.

We have previously reported that during future space missions the risk of severe COVID-19 infection will be a cardinal issue that needs careful attention. Our studies show that even with the most reliable pre-mission screening and quarantine strategies, astronauts with a latent (hidden, inactive, or dormant) SARS-CoV-2 infection might be sent to space. Given this consideration, an asymptomatic individual with dormant SARS-CoV-2 infection may successfully pass all the pre-launch medical tests.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most significant public health concerns and tremendous economic challenges. Studies conducted over the past decades show that exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMFs) may relieve AD symptoms.
Objective: To determine if exposure to RF-EMFs emitted by cellphones affect the risk of AD.

The Omicron variant is spreading at a rate we have never observed with any previous variant. A lot of efforts have been taken to inactivate SARS-CoV-2, especially the omicron variant. Specific wavelength ranges of electromagnetic radiation can be exploited to inactivate coronaviruses.

An accumulating body of evidence shows that various ethnicities are differentially affected by SARS-COV-2 infection. Moreover, some evidence shows that due to the vaccine inequity and millions of people living with HIV, a major catastrophe could occur in African countries that possibly affects the whole world. Given the possibility that Neanderthal genes confer a slight increase in susceptibility, this difference, at least to some extent, might possibly decrease the risk of the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants among black people in Africa.

To explain the potential mechanisms behind the lower number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, it has been hypothesized that cigarette smoking may reduce the odds of cytokine storm and related severe inflammatory responses through cholinergic-mediated anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Japanese scientists have recently identified a potential mechanism behind the lower numbers of COVID-19 cases amongst smokers compared to non-smokers.

Purpose: Translate into Brazilian Portuguese and culturally adapt the component scores definition from the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile - MBSImP videofluoroscopy protocol.
Methods: This study was conducted based on international guidelines for creation, translation and transcultural adaptation according to domestic publications for the validation of international speech-language pathology tests. A specialist committee was convened with two otorhinolaryngologists and three speech-language pathologists familiar with videofluoroscopy examinations.

Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of a collaborative goal-setting intervention (Empowering Patients in Chronic Care [EPIC]) to improve glycaemic control and diabetesrelated distress, and implementation into routine care across multiple primary care clinics.
Design: Randomized controlled trial comparing the effectiveness of the EPIC intervention with enhanced usual care (EUC) at five clinic sites located in the greater Chicago and Houston areas. We will measure differences in haemoglobin A (HbA) and diabetes distress scale scores among study arms at post-intervention and maintenance (6 months post-intervention).
Introduction: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion has been associated with the development of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD), with clinical incidence of approximately 3% per year. Cervical total disc arthroplasty (TDA) has been proposed as an alternative to prevent ASD.
Hypotheses: TDA in optimal placement using an elastic-core cervical disc (RHINE, K2M Inc.

Ischemic stroke is a leading cause of adult disability, including cognitive impairment. Our laboratory has previously shown that treatment with function-blocking antibodies against the neurite growth inhibitory protein Nogo-A promotes functional recovery after stroke in adult and aged rats, including enhancing spatial memory performance, for which the hippocampus is critically important. Since spatial memory has been linked to hippocampal neurogenesis, we investigated whether anti-Nogo-A treatment increases hippocampal neurogenesis after stroke.
