Using sewage sludge compost (SSC) for abandoned mine land reclamation supports ecological sustainability, but the environmental behavior of heavy metals in this process lacks systematic field validation. Here we analyzed the dynamic changes in heavy metal composition in topsoil, surface runoff, and subsurface infiltration after large-scale reclamation. Results show that SSC application promoted plant growth by 2-4 times, enhanced the physicochemical structure of the topsoil, and increased the levels of organic matter and inorganic nutrients.

While single-atom catalysts (SACs) have been extensively investigated as a high-atom-efficiency heterogeneous catalyst for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) oxidation reaction, the stable constructing and activation efficacy of the reaction sites remains less clarified. Herein, we employed gelatin as a N,O-bidentate ligand for Co (II) to form for a N-doped carbon precursor, while introducing NaCl as a template agent to induce the adoption of a Co-N conformation and disorganize the Co-O moiety. This approach facilitates uniform spatial isolation and atomic-level dispersion of Co atoms within the aerogel, effectively inhibiting the aggregation of Co during synthesis and enabling precise and controllable preparation of Co single-atom catalysts (SACs).

Metalaxyl is an acylanilide systemic fungicide that is widely applied and can readily enter ecosystems through leaching and soil runoff. This research utilized zebrafish as a model organism to thoroughly investigate the detrimental impacts of environmentally relevant levels of metalaxyl on the development of the notochord in zebrafish embryos and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms through transcriptomics, pharmacological intervention and molecular biological detection. The preliminary results demonstrated that metalaxyl induced significant modifications in the developmental parameters of zebrafish embryos.
