The current decade 2021-2030 was designated by the United Nations as the decade of healthy aging, which underlines the need for public health innovation for arthritis clinical care. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a novel and emerging parameter closely associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases and has been suggested to indicate the risk of arthritis. This study examined the longitudinal changes of TyG levels in relation to arthritis among a nationwide cohort of older Chinese adults.

The multi-soil-layering (MSL) systems is an emerging solution for environmentally-friendly and cost-effective treatment of decentralized rural domestic wastewater. However, the role of the seemingly simple permeable layer has been overlooked, potentially holding the breakthroughs or directions to addressing suboptimal nitrogen removal performance in MSL systems. In this paper, the mechanism among diverse substrates (zeolite, green zeolite and biological ceramsite) coupled microorganisms in different systems (activated bacterial powder and activated sludge) for rural domestic wastewater purification was investigated.

Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are widely used in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients as a treatment option. However, ICS may also increase the risk of pneumonia and alter the composition of airway microbiota. In clinical application, the overuse of ICS exists pervasively and may potentially lead to adverse effects.

Background: Although previous studies have found that parenting style significantly predicts emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) among Chinese adolescents, the mechanism between different parenting styles and EBPs requires in-depth investigation. In our study, we aimed to investigate the mediating effect of resilience, a positive psychological characteristic, between parenting style and EBPs among Chinese adolescents.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we used a multistage stratified cluster random sampling method to collect data in Shenyang, Liaoning Province from November to December 2019.

Semiochemicals emerging from the host are essential in the process of insects identifying and localizing the host. The highly expressed odorant-binding protein 1 of (SvelOBP1) was assumed to play a possible role in the recognition of host volatiles.

Background: The mitochondrial gene MCCC2, a subunit of the heterodimer of 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase, plays a pivotal role in catabolism of leucine and isovaleric acid. The molecular mechanisms and prognostic value still need to be explored in the context of specific cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC).
Methods: In vitro and in vivo cell-based assays were performed to explore the role of MCCC2 in CRC cell proliferation, invasion, and migration.

Background: Unintentional injuries among children and adolescents are a major public health problem worldwide. These injuries not only have negative effects on children's physiology and psychology, but also bring huge economic losses and social burdens to families and society. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of disability and death among Chinese adolescents, and left-behind children (LBC) are more prone to experience unintentional injury.

This paper took the policy of China' Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan as an exogenous shock to reflect the change in environmental regulation intensity. By matching environmental policies with micro data of listed companies in China, this paper explored the effect and mechanisms of environmental regulation on enterprise green innovation. Through constructing difference-in-difference (DID) and difference-in-difference-in-difference (DDD) models, we found the following to be the case: (1) Environmental regulation had a significant positive effect with the green innovation level of Chinese listed companies.

In a spontaneous coal combustion environment and in the coal chemical process, multiple gases, such as CH, H, and CO, coexist, and explosion accidents are prone to occur. The causes of these disasters and the explosion characteristics are key to formulating preventive measures. To explore the effect of H/CO on the explosion pressure and thermal behavior of methane-air, CH with initial volume fractions of 7, 9.

Owing to the complicated geometric conditions and increasingly diversified driving environment, freeway curves have become a road section with frequent serious accidents. To ensure safe driving on curves, drivers must first perceive the movement condition and the vehicle's position, and accurately evaluate the characteristics of the road to make the right speed choice. In this process, the perception of speed plays a crucial role.

Antiviral therapy with antiviral agents is a very important component of treatment for the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). It is important to clarify how to evaluate efficacy and safety of antiviral agents in treatment of COVID-19 during the pandemic of this disease. We need to answer the following questions: do we still need to use rigorously designed randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs)? Or, will it be enough if we use loosened criteria, observational studies or even retrospective case series and case reports? The answer is "No, we still need to use the strictly designed preferably blinded multicenter RCTs to evaluate the antiviral agents.
