Cancer diagnosis in Brazil in the COVID-19 era.

The comprehensive care and treatment for cancer patients in Brazil, regulated by the National Cancer Prevention and Control Policy, is provided by Brazilian Unified Healthcare System (SUS) in certified health institution. Due the COVID-19 pandemic, several restrictive measures have been implemented by the State federation's governments, and cancer diagnosis reference centers were also impacted by these measures. Thus, this study aimed to compare SUS-oriented cancer diagnosis in Brazil before and during the pandemic so far.

Use of two new formulations as bovine embryo manipulation solution.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of two Embryo Manipulation Solutions (EMS and EMS supplemented) in maintenance of the viability of embryos, initially using structures derived from mice (first phase). Next, the efficiency of these solutions in routines of bovine embryo transfer was evaluated (second stage). Mice embryos were used in the stages of early blastocyst, and compact morula grades I and II.

Exploring mechanisms underlying learning from deliberate reflection: An experimental study.

Introduction: Previous research suggests that, relative to generating a differential diagnosis, deliberate reflection during practice with clinical cases fosters learning from a subsequently studied scientific text and promotes interest in the subject matter. The present experiment aimed to replicate these findings and to examine whether motivational or cognitive mechanisms, or both, underlie the positive effects of reflection.

Methods: A total of 101 5th-year medical students participated in an experiment containing four phases: Students (a) diagnosed two clinical cases of jaundice-related diseases either through deliberate reflection or differential diagnosis; (b) reported their situational interest and awareness of knowledge gaps; (c) studied a text about jaundice, either under free or restricted time; and (d) recalled the text.

The impact of technological endodontic resources on the training of the general dentist.

Introduction: Technological resources are considered important for the practice and training in endodontics. It is not yet clear the extent of the insertion of these resources in predoctoral dental programmes and the effect of such resources to the general dentist training.

Aim: To evaluate the faculty perception regarding the insertion of technological resources, particularly rotary instruments, and the impact of such resources to the student's learning process graded at the end of predoctoral dental programmes in Brazil by the National Students Performance Exam (ENADE).

Grape juice attenuates left ventricular hypertrophy in dyslipidemic mice.

Objective: We evaluated the effects of grape juice (Vitis labrusca L.) on dyslipidemia, resistance to insulin, and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in mice homozygous for the absence of the LDL receptor gene (LDLr -/-) under a hyperlipidemic diet.

Methodology: We divided 30 male mice (3 months old) into three groups (n = 10); the HL group was fed a high-fat diet, the HLU group received a high-fat diet and 2 g/kg/day of grape juice, and the HLS group was fed a high-fat diet and simvastatin (20 mg/kg/day).

In this sense, the present study aims to analyse the prevalence of zoonotic intestinal parasites in domiciled dogs living in the urban area of Alfenas, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, from February 2017 to July 2018. To collect data, four regions of the city were considered as strata and their respective neighbourhoods as conglomerates, and one neighbourhood per stratum was selected.
