We evaluated the predictors of VBAC success in Jordanian women with a single previous low transverse caesarean section of a gestational age of at least 28 weeks, followed by a trial of spontaneous labour at two tertiary hospitals between January 2008 and February 2010. Among 207 women, 117 (57%) women achieved a successful VBAC. Multivariate analysis showed that a cervical dilatation of ≥ 7 cm at the time of previous caesarean section was an independent predictor of successful VBAC (with a success rate of 80%).

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common oral ulcerative condition. At ulcer sites vascular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) are strongly expressed on blood vessels, and ICAM-1 is expressed on keratinocytes. Expression of these molecules would promote leukocyte accumulation and invasion of the epithelium.

Background: Transient tachypnoea of the newborn (TTN) results from delayed clearance of lung liquid and is a common cause of admission of full term infants to neonatal intensive care units. The condition is particularly common after elective caesarean section. Conventional treatment involves appropriate oxygen administration and continuous positive airway pressure in some cases.

Objectives: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, caused by the gradual loss of cells in substantia nigra. Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in a variety of signal transduction pathways that are crucial for maintaining the physiologic functions of nervous system. The aims of this study are: 1) To investigate the expression of the inducible form of NO (iNOS), and compare it to neuronal nitric oxide (nNOS) in the brain of a chronic mouse model of PD and 2) To study the effect of endurance exercise training on the expression of these markers.

Background: With the progressive use of new diagnostic techniques, the management of penetrating abdominal stab wounds is changing. Most studies have been conducted in well-equipped trauma centers in developed countries, and there is a paucity of reports from general teaching hospitals with limited resources. We reviewed the assessment of anterior abdominal stab wounds in patients presenting to our hospital hoping to establish an evidence-based algorithm for managing such patients in busy general hospitals.

Introduction: In recent years increased patient aesthetic expectations have brought about closer scrutiny of shade taking and communication processes with the aim of increasing the chances of success of obtaining good indirect restoration appearance. When shade matching, the most popular approach is to match the shade of the natural dentition using a shade guide to specify the shade of the final restoration before fabrication. A recent alternative approach is to also specify the shade of the tooth preparation to facilitate its replication in the die upon which the restoration will be made.
