Purpose: Tumor expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) is associated with evasion of immune response in several types of malignancies and such expression may render patients eligible for PD-L1 inhibitors. The use of immune checkpoint blockade therapy has been recently approved for the treatment of breast cancer. However, PD-L1 expression data are lacking among Jordanian breast cancer patients.

Targeted therapy is a hallmark of cancer treatment that has changed the landscape of cancer management and enabled a personalized treatment approach. Nevertheless, the development of cancer resistance is a major challenge that is currently threatening the effective utilization of targeted therapies. The hepatocyte growth factor receptor, MET, is a receptor tyrosine kinase known for its oncogenic activity and tumorigenic potential.

Mammalian cells utilize a wide spectrum of pathways to antagonize the viral replication. These pathways are typically regulated by antiviral proteins and can be constitutively expressed but also exacerbated by interferon induction. A myriad of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) have been identified in mounting broad-spectrum antiviral responses.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a well-known risk factor for Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Patients with type 2 DM (T2DM) who have NAFLD are at a higher risk of developing advanced stages of liver disease, including fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma compared to non-diabetic patients. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of NAFLD among patients with T2DM, using hepatic ultrasonographic changes combined with derangement of hepatic transaminases level.

Hormone-dependent breast cancer is the most abundant molecular subtype of the disease. Despite the availability of endocrine treatments, the use of these drugs is limited by their serious adverse reactions and development of acquired resistance often mediated by growth factor receptors. The hepatocyte growth factor receptor, MET, is a receptor tyrosine kinase known for its oncogenic activity and mediating resistance to targeted therapies.

Background: Viral cause of sporadic breast cancer (SBC) has been suggested based on the experimental murine model of mammary tumor caused by mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and human papillomavirus (HPV). While some studies have demonstrated the presence of viral sequences of MMTV, HPV, and EBV in breast cancer cells, others failed. These contradictions may be attributed to the geographical distribution of breast cancer incidence and/or technical variations.
