Background: Electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) have been shown to enhance healthcare quality by improving patient symptom management or quality of life (QoL). However, ePROs data for urothelial cancer (UC) patients receiving systemic therapies are scarce, and the application of ePROs in this patient cohort may need specific setups. This study tested the feasibility of ePROs for UC patients receiving systemic therapies in the outpatient clinic of a tertiary care center.

Cigarette smoking negatively impacts mesenchymal stem cell functionality, including proliferation, viability, and differentiation potential. Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) are increasingly used for therapeutic purposes, but the specific effects of smoking in vivo on these cells are poorly understood. This study investigates the effects of cigarette smoke on the proliferation, viability, gene expression, and cellular functions of ADMSCs from smoking and non-smoking donors.

Interest has arisen in exploring the off-label application of left-sided percutaneous mechanical aspiration, where conventional management strategies may not suffice. Percutaneous mechanical aspiration has been shown to be effective as a diagnostic and therapeutic intervention in select patients with infective endocarditis. This paper hereby reports the first case of a successful transeptal large bore manual aspiration device (AlphaVac; Angiodynamics) for nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis with total resolution of associated severe mitral valve regurgitation.

Background: Lymphocyte-based inflammatory indices such as monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) have long been recognized as reliable coronary artery disease (CAD) predictors. More recently, novel indices like the Systemic Inflammatory Index (SII), Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI), and Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SIIRI) have emerged. These newer markers offer a more comprehensive assessment of inflammation by integrating multiple immune cell types, potentially enhancing the prediction of cardiovascular outcomes.
