Condylar process fractures remain a matter of ongoing controversy in maxillofacial surgery because of variety of opinions and proposed treatment modalities offered in the literature. The trend is toward open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) whenever there is displacement or dislocation combined with unstable occlusal conditions. The fundamental treatment goals are anatomical fixation and early return to function.

BACKGROUND Anterior reduction disc displacement (ARDD) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can present with pain and clicking of the jaw when chewing. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between articular eminence cortication (AEC) and mandibular condyle cortication (MCC) in 81 patients with ARDD of the TMJ using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging. MATERIAL AND METHODS We examined images of 142 patients who applied to the outpatient clinic between 2022 and 2024 for various reasons and whose radiographic records included CBCT and MRI images.

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery in China, as an important part of oral and maxillofacial surgery, has made significant progress in the past 20 years. It is mainly reflected in the reduction of TMJ dislocated joint disc, prosthetic total TMJ reconstruction, and the treatment of adult condylar fracture. There are major controversies about the surgical methods and indications for the reduction of the dislocated/displacement joint disc of the temporomandibular disorders.

Objectives: To analyse the correlation between temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc perforation and degenerative joint changes (DJC) on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and related factors.
Study Design: A total of 238 female patients with anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDwoR), accounting for 348 affected joints, requiring TMJ disc open anchorage surgery were included in the study conducted from June 2021 to August 2022. Following TMJ disc open anchorage surgery, patients were divided into two groups: disc perforation (DP) and disc non-perforation (DNP).

Temporomandibular joint dislocation is a common challenge in dental care, but it can be promptly addressed through manual realignment, making it standard procedure in the realm of oral health. Nonetheless, effectively preventing and treating chronic protracted mandibular dislocation (CPMD), characterized by prolonged dislocation, remains a significant challenge. Hence, a retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 10 patients diagnosed with chronic protracted mandibular dislocation (CPMD), encompassing diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis details.

Dislocation of the mandibular condyle of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is defined as a clinical condition in which head of the condyle is displaced out of its functional position within the glenoid fossa and posterior slope of the articular eminence Allen and Young in Br J Oral Surg 7:24-30, (1969). Dislocation of the mandibular condyle most commonly occurs in the anterior or anteromedial direction in both traumatic and non-traumatic origin dislocations. Lateral dislocations are generally rare owing to the thickening of the lateral surface of the articular capsule by the lateral ligament that strengthens the lateral surface of the joint Lovely and Copeland in J Can Dent Assoc 47:179-184, (1981).

Introduction: Anterior displacement of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc is a disorder in which the articular disc is dislocated from its correct position relative to the mandibular condyle and mandibular fossa. Traditionally, the initial treatment of disc displacements involves various conservative measures, including the use of a stabilizing interocclusal splint. However, in cases where there is associated limited mouth opening, as in the case of anterior disc displacement with reduction and intermittent block (ADDwRIB), and anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADDw/oR), arthrocentesis has been suggested as another modality of initial treatment due to its faster effect in preventing disease progression to a more advanced stage, as well as reducing the chances of pain chronification and central sensitization.

Disc displacement without reduction (DDwoR) can cause pain and limitations in mouth opening, with a significant impact on function. The optimal management strategy for DDwoR is unclear. Treatments include conservative management such as mandibular manipulation, occlusal splints, and patient education/self-management, as well as arthrocentesis, which is a minimally invasive procedure.

Objective: To study the changes of temporomandibular joints and craniocervical posture in adult patients with bilateral anterior disc displacement, and to explore their correlation, which may provide some clinical value for clinical diagnosis and treatment planning.
Methods: Ninety-eight adult patients were divided into 3 groups: 29 patients in bilateral disc normal position group (BN), 33 patients in bilateral Anterior Disc Displacement With Reduction group (ADDWR) and 36 patients in bilateral Anterior Disc Displacement Without Reduction group (ADDWoR). Dolphin and Uceph software were used to measure 14 items of temporomandibular joint and 11 items of craniocervical posture for comparison and correlation analysis between groups.
