Background And Objectives: Neurologic outcomes in people with HIV (PWH) on long-duration antiretroviral therapy (ART) are not fully understood, and the underlying pathophysiology is unclear. To address this, we established a cohort of such individuals and compared them with HIV-negative controls using a novel matching technique. Both groups underwent extensive cognitive testing, evaluation for psychiatric measures, and MRI and CSF analyses.

Food cue responsiveness (FCR), broadly defined as behavioral, cognitive, emotional and/or physiological responses to external appetitive cues outside of physiological need, contributes to overeating and obesity among youth and adults. A variety of measures purportedly assess this construct, ranging from youth- or parent-report surveys to objective eating tasks. However, little research has assessed their convergence.

The current study investigated differences in safety behavior subtype use in 132 individuals with principal diagnoses of social anxiety disorder (SAD, n = 69), major depressive disorder (MDD, n = 30), and nonpatient controls (n = 33) across two social contexts: an interpersonal relationship-building task (social affiliation) and a speech task (social performance).

Despite that Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a first-line, evidence-based treatment for youths experiencing trauma-related symptoms, treatment responses vary and it remains unclear for whom and how this treatment works. In this context, we examined pre-treatment neural reward processing and pre- vs. post-treatment changes in neural reward processing, in relation to irritability - a transdiagnostic and dimensional feature present in multiple trauma-related syndromes, following TF-CBT.

Objective: Emotional functioning is linked to HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment, yet research on this association among diverse people with HIV (PWH) is scant. We examined emotional health and its association with neurocognition in Hispanic and White PWH.
Methods: Participants included 107 Hispanic (41% primarily Spanish-speakers; 80% Mexican heritage/origin) and 216 White PWH (Overall age: = 53.

Elevated irritability during adolescence predicts mental health issues in adulthood. Social interactions commonly elicit symptoms of irritability. Prior research has traditionally examined neural activity during the anticipation of, and immediate reaction to, social feedback separately in irritable adolescents.

Objective: There is a tremendous opportunity for electronic health services (eHealth) to reach adults with low income who want to participate in weight loss interventions, but face barriers in access. This review (a) synthesizes and presents results from all studies evaluating the effectiveness of eHealth weight loss interventions for adults with low income and (b) describes the strategies used to tailor them to these groups.
Method: Electronic databases were searched for studies examining the effectiveness of eHealth weight loss interventions designed for adults with low income and screened for eligibility by two independent reviewers.

The 20-item Pain Anxiety Symptom Scale (PASS-20) was adapted for Spanish-speaking Mexican Americans who report chronic pain (SSMACP). The instrument measures pain-related anxiety with fear, physiological, avoidance/escape, and cognitive anxiety as subtypes. In SSMACP, the Spanish PASS-20's psychometric properties were evaluated while exploring relationships between pain-related anxiety with other variables.

Implementation strategies are methods or techniques used to adopt, implement, and sustain evidence-based practices (EBPs). Implementation strategies are dynamic and may require adaptation to fit implementation contexts, especially in low-resource settings, which are most likely to serve racially and ethnically diverse patients. The framework for reporting adaptations and modifications to evidence-based implementation strategies (FRAME-IS) was used to document adaptations to implementation strategies to inform an optimization pilot of Access to Tailored Autism Integrated Care (ATTAIN; an integrated care model for children with autism and co-occurring mental health needs) in a federally qualified health center (FQHC) near the United States/Mexico border.

Type 2 diabetes disproportionately impacts ethnic minorities and individuals from low socioeconomic status. Diabetes self-management education and support has been shown to improve clinical outcomes in these populations, and mobile health (mHealth) interventions can reduce barriers to access. Dulce Digital-Me (DD-Me) was developed to integrate adaptive mHealth technologies to enhance self-management and reduce disparities in the high-risk, underserved Hispanic population.

Objective: Methamphetamine and cannabis are two widely used substances among people living with HIV (PLWH). Whereas methamphetamine use has been found to worsen HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment, the effects of combined cannabis and methamphetamine use disorder on neurocognition in PLWH are not understood. In the present study, we aimed to determine the influence of these substance use disorders on neurocognition in PLWH and to explore if methamphetamine-cannabis effects interacted with HIV status.

Background: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a neurotrophin that plays an important role in regulating synaptic activity and plasticity.
Objective: Given that type-2 diabetes (T2DM) increases the risk of cognitive decline, and studies have suggested lower BDNF levels may be a risk factor of diabetic neurovascular complications, we sought to investigate total white matter hyperintensities (WMH) as a moderator of the effect of BDNF on hippocampal volume and cognition.
Methods: Older adults without dementia from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (N = 454 including 49 with T2DM and 405 without diabetes) underwent neuropsychological evaluation, magnetic resonance imaging to quantify hippocampal and WMH volumes, and blood draw to assess BDNF.

Brief behavioral therapy (BBT) is an efficacious transdiagnostic intervention for pediatric anxiety and depression that targets behavioral avoidance as a key mechanism. It is unknown if change in avoidance mediates treatment effects, as theorized. Data on avoidance at baseline and Week 16 were available on 52 youth (ages 8-16 years) from a randomized controlled trial (Weersing, Jeffreys, et al.

Objective: Loneliness has been associated with poorer health-related quality of life but has not been studied in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). The current study was undertaken to examine and compare the psychometric properties of the English and French versions of the University of California, Los Angeles, Loneliness Scale-6 (ULS-6) in patients with SSc during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: This study used baseline cross-sectional data from 775 adults enrolled in the Scleroderma Patient-Centered Intervention Network (SPIN) COVID-19 Cohort.

Resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) is a powerful tool for characterizing brain changes, but it has yet to reliably predict higher-order cognition. This may be attributed to small effect sizes of such brain-behavior relationships, which can lead to underpowered, variable results when utilizing typical sample sizes (N∼25). Inspired by techniques in genomics, we implement the polyneuro risk score (PNRS) framework - the application of multivariate techniques to RSFC data and validation in an independent sample.

Objective: Many individuals diagnosed with an eating disorder (ED) have been exposed to traumatic events, and some of these individuals are diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Although theorized by researchers and clinicians, it is unclear whether traumatic event exposure or PTSD interferes with outcomes from ED treatment. The objective of the current study was to systematically review the literature on traumatic events and/or PTSD as either predictors or moderators of psychological treatment outcomes in EDs.

We investigated CR as a moderator of the effect of CBF on cognition in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI; N = 46) and those who are cognitively unimpaired (CU; N = 101). Participants underwent arterial spin labeling MRI, which was used to quantify CBF in 4 a priori regions.

Body image concerns are associated with disordered eating, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and illicit appearance and performance enhancing drug (APED) misuse. Sexual minority individuals are a vulnerable population for body image concerns. Latent profile analyses were used to identify body image patterns in sexual minority men (n = 479) and women (n = 483) and to investigate associations between latent profiles and body image-related pathology.
