Purpose: A previous integrated patient-level analysis demonstrated a significant benefit of implementing once-monthly injectable paliperidone palmitate (PP1M) earlier in the treatment course for schizophrenia. Earlier therapeutic interventions during the first 3-5 years after disease onset can positively impact long-term outcomes in schizophrenia. This present analysis evaluated the risk of relapse both overall and by different durations of illness (0-3 years, >3-5 years, and >5 years from diagnosis) in adult patients with schizophrenia who received PP1M or oral antipsychotics (OAPs).

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) encodes surface glycoproteins that are host defense evasion molecules, allowing the virus to escape immune clearance. In addition to their role in neuropathogenesis and cell-cell spread, glycoproteins E and I (gE/gI) form a viral Fc receptor (vFcR) for most subclasses and allotypes of human IgG and promote evasion of humoral immune responses. While monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) protect mice from neonatal HSV (nHSV) infections, the impact of the vFcR on mAb-mediated protection by binding to IgG is unknown.

Traditionally, patients with asymptomatic, advanced-stage follicular lymphoma were managed with a watchful-waiting approach until disease progression. The 'Watch and Wait' Phase-3 randomised international trial examined whether rituximab could delay the need for treatment and the effect on quality of life (QoL). In this article, we present the long-term results of the QoL aspect of the trial.

Background/objectives: Tumor microenvironmental hypoxia is an established hallmark of solid tumors. It significantly contributes to tumor aggressiveness and therapy resistance and has been reported to affect the balance of activating/inhibitory surface receptors' expression and activity on NK cells. In the current study, we investigated the impact of hypoxia on the surface expression of Siglec-7 and Siglec-9 (Sig-7/9) and their ligands in NK cells and tumor target cells.

Background: Critically ill hospitalized patients with COVID-19 have greater antibody titers than those with mild to moderate illness, but their association with recovery or death from COVID-19 has not been characterized.
Methods: In a cohort study of 178 COVID-19 patients, 73 non-hospitalized and 105 hospitalized patients, mucosal swabs and plasma samples were collected at hospital enrollment and up to 3 months post-enrollment (MPE) to measure virus RNA, cytokines/chemokines, binding antibodies, ACE2 binding inhibition, and Fc effector antibody responses against SARS-CoV-2. The association of demographic variables and more than 20 serological antibody measures with intubation or death due to COVID-19 was determined using machine learning algorithms.

DHX9 is a multifunctional DExH-box RNA helicase with important roles in the regulation of transcription, translation, and maintenance of genome stability. Elevated expression of DHX9 is evident in multiple cancer types, including colorectal cancer (CRC). Microsatellite instable-high (MSI-H) tumors with deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) display a strong dependence on DHX9, making this helicase an attractive target for oncology drug discovery.

Nanoscale material systems are central to next-generation optoelectronic and quantum technologies, yet their development remains hindered by limited characterization tools, particularly at terahertz (THz) frequencies. Far-field THz spectroscopy techniques lack the sensitivity for investigating individual nanoscale systems, whereas in near-field THz nanoscopy, surface states, disorder, and sample-tip interactions often mask the response of the entire nanoscale system. Here, we present a THz resonance-amplified near-field spectroscopy technique that can detect subtle conductivity changes in isolated nanoscale systems─such as a single InAs nanowire─under ultrafast photoexcitation.
