Background Recommendations regarding long-term postoperative activity are intended to prevent adverse events, but no common policy or best practice exists among ophthalmologists for pediatric patients. We surveyed ophthalmologists on their postoperative guidelines after the one-month postoperative period following childhood cataract and glaucoma surgeries. Methods A 28-question anonymous Qualtrics survey was distributed via listservs and social media.

Objective: We sought to construct and validate a patient-reported outcome measure for screening and monitoring vision-related anxiety in patients with inherited retinal degenerations.
Design: Item-response theory and graded response modeling to quantitatively validate questionnaire items generated from qualitative interviews and patient feedback.
Methods: Patients at the Kellogg Eye Center (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) with a clinical diagnosis of an inherited retinal degeneration (n = 128) participated in an interviewer-administered questionnaire.

Significance: The developed video can be accessed by African American patients with glaucoma from across the United States on YouTube to learn why it is important to ask eye care providers any questions they might have about glaucoma and/or its treatment.
Purpose: Our objective was to develop an educational video for African Americans with glaucoma to watch before their ophthalmology office visits to help motivate them to be actively involved in their care.
Methods: The Social Cognitive Theory guided the development of the video.

Background: Galactose accumulation in the lens tissue is known to be cataractogenic. Whether consistent dietary intake of lactose-which consists of glucose and galactose-predisposes to senile cataract remains unclear. This study was conducted to investigate the association between a number of dietary milk intake indicators and cataract extraction history in a representative sample of older adults from the US population.

Significance: Head-mounted low vision devices have received considerable attention in recent years owing to rapidly developing technology, facilitating ease of use and functionality. Systematic clinical evaluations of such devices remain rare but are needed to steer future device development.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate, in a multicenter prospective trial, the short- and medium-term effects of a head-worn vision enhancement device (eSight Eyewear).

Purpose: We characterized vision in glaucoma using seven visual measures, with the goals of determining the dimensionality of vision, and how many and which visual measures best model activity limitation.
Methods: We analyzed cross-sectional data from 150 older adults with glaucoma, collecting seven visual measures: integrated visual field (VF) sensitivity, visual acuity, contrast sensitivity (CS), area under the log CS function, color vision, stereoacuity, and visual acuity with noise. Principal component analysis was used to examine the dimensionality of vision.

We report a case of cataract wound instability and subsequent management after cataract surgery in a patient who had had hyperopic laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Standard cataract surgery was performed through a nasal limbal incision. One day postoperatively, the uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) was 20/20 and the wound was stable.
