Background: Detecting impaired naming capacity contributes to the detection of mild (MildND) and major (MajorND) neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Test for Finding Word retrieval deficits (WoFi) is a new, 50-item, auditory stimuli-based instrument.
Objective: The study aimed to adapt WoFi to the Greek language, to develop a short version of WoFi (WoFi-brief), to compare the item frequency and the utility of both instruments with the naming subtest of the widely used Addenbrooke's cognitive examination III (ACEIIINaming) in detecting MildND and MajorND due to AD.

Purpose: MRI has an important role in diagnosing pilocytic astrocytoma and post-surgical follow-up since the surgical approach has a leading role in its treatment. The purpose of our study is to provide an overview of the typical and atypical MRI findings in a series of pediatric patients with isolated-not NF1-related-pilocytic astrocytomas and to correlate specific MRI patterns with clinical variables.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional retrospective study providing the analysis of several clinical and neuroradiological findings from a cohort of pediatric pilocytic astrocytoma, starting from the data collected in the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta (FINCB) internal Cancer Registry during an 11-year time period (January 2008-January 2019).

Background: Even though communities in low-resource areas across the globe are aging, older adult mental and cognitive health services remain mainly embedded in tertiary- or secondary hospital settings, and thus not easily accessible by older adults living in such communities. Here, the iterative development of INTegRated InterveNtion of pSychogerIatric Care (INTRINSIC) services addressing the mental and cognitive healthcare needs of older adults residing in low-resource areas of Greece is depicted.
Methods: INTRINSIC was developed and piloted in three iterative phases: (i) INTRINSIC initial version conceptualization; (ii) A 5-year field testing in Andros island; and (iii) Extending the services.

Angioleiomyoma (ALM) is a benign smooth muscle neoplasm that mainly occurs in lower extremities subcutaneous tissue and generally affects middle-aged adults. This tumor histotype may rarely localize intracranially, although only a few cases have been described in the literature. We report a case of intracranial ALM, whose differential diagnosis has been particularly challenging, and firstly provide a comprehensive radiological and intra-operative evaluation of a such rare entity.

Background: Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a minimally invasive ablative technique with specific indications for neuro-oncology, especially in the case of lesions in eloquent areas. Even being performed through a small catheter under stereotactic conditions, the risk of damaging vital structures such as white matter tracts or cortical eloquent areas is not negligible. The mechanism of damage can be related to catheter insertion or to excessive laser ablation.

Background: Neurosurgical 3D visualizers and simulators are innovative devices capable of defining a surgical strategy in advance and possibly making neurosurgery safer by rehearsing the phases of the operation beforehand. The aim of this study is to evaluate Surgical Theater™ (Surgical Theater LLC, Mayfield, OH, USA), a new 3D neurosurgical planning, simulation, and navigation system, and qualitatively assess its use in the operating room.
Methods: Clinical data were collected from 30 patients harboring various types of brain tumors; Surgical Theater™ was used for the preoperative planning and intraoperative 3D navigation.

Magnetic Resonance-guided high-intensity Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) of the thalamic ventral intermediate nucleus (Vim) for tremor has increasingly gained interest as a new non-invasive alternative to standard neurosurgery. Resting state functional connectivity (rs-FC) correlates of MRgFUS have not been extensively investigated yet. A region of interest (ROI)-to-ROI rs-FC MRI "connectomic" analysis focusing on brain regions relevant for tremor was conducted on 15 tremor-dominant patients with Parkinson's disease who underwent MRgFUS.

Identifying and locating areas - hot spots - that present high concentration of observations in a high-dimensional data set is crucial in many data processing and analysis methods and techniques, since observations that belong to the same hot spot share information and behave in a similar way. A useful tool towards that aim is the reduction of the data dimensionality and the graphical representation of them. In the present paper, a new method to identify and locate hot spots is proposed, based on the Andrews curves.
