Benzotriazole (BTA) is an important compound that demonstrates the strongest anticorrosion properties of copper and plays a role as a leveler and an additive to the electroplating bath for control of the roughness and corrosion resistance of the electrodeposited copper layer. In this paper, we combined cyclic voltammetry (CV), time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS), surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to study the interaction of BTA with copper surfaces at varied concentrations with and without the presence of chloride ions. We identified the most relevant molecular copper and its complex forms with BTA on the copper electrodeposited layer.

The main focus is on the strength of the friction stir welding connection and the energy consumption of the process. The practical part of the study used aluminum alloy 2024-T3, the most commonly used alloy in the automotive industry.

The mediating role of rumination between stress appraisal and cyberchondria.

Cyberchondria, defined as excessive concern about one's health and looking for solutions to health problems on the Internet, is becoming increasingly common. This paper examines the relations between the dimensions of stress appraisal (threat, challenge-activity, challenge-passivity, harm/loss) and cyberchondria. We also tested whether these relations were mediated by rumination.

Fear, Loneliness, Happiness and Mental Health in the Post-COVID-19 Period: A Cross-Cultural Study in a Sample of Japanese and Polish University Students.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, interpersonal relations were highly constrained due to the social distancing rules and sanitary restrictions imposed to prevent the transmission of the virus. These social changes gave rise to ever-deepening experiences of loneliness, deterioration of mental well-being, and fear of COVID-19, which affected the citizens of all the countries struggling with the pandemic.

Methods: The present paper reports the results of a study on mental health, interdependent happiness, loneliness and fear of COVID-19 in Polish and Japanese university students.

Religious Coping and Mental Adjustment to Cancer Among Polish Adolescents.

Adults suffering from chronic illnesses are more likely to look to God for support (positive religious coping; PRC) than to fight against God (negative religious coping; NRC). What about when cancer occurs during adolescence-a period of questioning the worldview and values, and at the same time searching for the sacred? Our study aimed to establish the relationships between PRC, NRC, and mental adjustment to cancer among youth and determine support's role in these relationships. The study was conducted in Poland and included 88 adolescent cancer patients who completed the Brief RCOPE and the Mini-MAC.

Recent data on the distribution and influence of copper, zinc and cadmium in glial cells are summarized. This review also examines the relationship between those metals and their role in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson disease and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which have become a great challenge for today's physicians. The studies suggest that among glial cells, iron has the highest concentration in oligodendrocytes, copper in astrocytes and zinc in the glia of hippocampus and cortex.

The experiences of inner harmony and ethical sensitivity among late adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic depend on the interplay of perceptive factors, personal resources and cognitive and stress mechanisms. Using a sample from Poland, the present study examined the relationships between the perceptions of COVID-19 and the Light Triad and the characteristics of inner harmony and ethical sensitivity from the mediational perspective of meaning-making and perceived stress. [3 + 2] Cycloaddition reactions with the participation of -C-(3-pyridyl)--methylnitrone and series of -2-R-nitroethenes were both experimentally and theoretically explored in the framework of Molecular Electron Density Theory. It was found that all considered processes are realized under mild conditions and in full regio- and stereocontrol. The ELF analysis additionally showed that the studied reaction proceeds by a two-stage, one-step mechanism.

Naturally Occurring Chalcones with Aggregation-Induced Emission Enhancement Characteristics.

In this paper, the natural chalcones: 2'-hydroxy-4,4',6'-trimethoxychalcone (HCH), cardamonin (CA), xanthohumol (XN), isobavachalcone (IBC) and licochalcone A (LIC) are studied using spectroscopic techniques such as UV-vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). For the first time, the spectroscopic and structural features of naturally occurring chalcones with varying numbers and positions of hydroxyl groups in rings A and B were investigated to prove the presence of the aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) effect. The fluorescence studies were carried out in the aggregate form in a solution and in a solid state.

Peculiarities of Fatigue Crack Growth in Steel 17H1S after Long-Term Operations on a Gas Pipeline.

This work presents the results of metallographic studies and the tensile, impact, and fatigue crack growth (FCG) resistance tests of 17H1S main gas pipeline steel in the as-received (AR) state and after a long-term operation (LTO). A significant number of non-metallic inclusions forming chains stretched along the direction of pipe rolling were found in the microstructure of the LTO steel. The lowest values of elongation at break and impact toughness of the steel were determined for the lower part of the pipe close to its inner surface.

Factors Determining the Quality of Life of Polish Women during Menopause Based on the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire.

Background: The aim of the study was to present the process of cultural adaptation to Polish conditions and the validation of a scale assessing the quality of life of Polish women during the menopause and to identify the factors determining this quality of life.

Methods: The research tools were the menopause-specific quality of life (MENQOL) questionnaire and a standardized interview questionnaire comprising questions on the participants' characteristics. The study involved 516 women using health care services who had symptoms caused by the menopause.

Self-concept clarity (SCC) refers to the extent to which self-beliefs are clearly and confidently defined, internally consistent, and stable. While there is an abundance of research showing an association between SCC, well-being, and effective self-regulation, there is little knowledge about how SCC relates to basic cognitive processes such as attention and memory. Drawing on the attentional function theory of cognitive control, we hypothesized that low SCC is associated with greater attentional control during a trait assessment task.
