Experimental and theoretical studies on the reaction between ()-3,3,3-trichloro-1-nitroprop-1-ene and -(4-bromophenyl)-C-arylnitrylimine were performed. It was found that the title process unexpectedly led to 1-(4-bromophenyl)-3-phenyl-5-nitropyrazole instead of the expected Δ-pyrazoline molecular system. This was the result of a unique CHCl elimination process.

Interactions of functional additives SPS (bis-(sodium-sulfopropyl)-disulfide), MPS (3-Mercapto-1-Propanesulfonate), and Cl accumulated and incorporated on/into a copper electrodeposited layer were studied using time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) in combination with cyclic voltammetry measurements (CV). It was shown that the Cl and MPS surface coverage is dependent on the applied overpotential and concentration of Cl, SPS, or MPS in the solution. Detailed discussion on the mechanism of yielding CHSO, CHSO, CuSCHSO, and CuS fragments and their assignment to the gauche or trans conformation was proposed.

Multifunctional nanoplatforms based on novel bimetallic nanoparticles have emerged as effective radiosensitizers owing to their potential capability in cancer cells radiosensitization. Implementation of chemotherapy along with radiotherapy, known as synchronous chemoradiotherapy, can augment the treatment efficacy. Herein, a tumor targeted nanoradiosensitizer with synchronous chemoradiotion properties, termed as CuFeO@BSA-FA-CUR, loaded with curcumin (CUR) and modified by bovine serum albumin (BSA) and folic acid (FA) was developed to enhance tumor accumulation and promote the anti-cancer activity while attenuating adverse effects.

This study investigated the relationship between fear of the coronavirus, belief in COVID-19 conspiracy theories, and dimensions of the need for cognitive closure. As there is evidence of associations between these variables, we hypothesized that the relationship between the need for closure dimensions and coronavirus fear may be mediated by conspiracy beliefs about COVID-19. We analyzed the results from 380 individuals who completed online versions of three scales: the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, a short version of the Need for Closure Scale, and-designed for this study-the Conspiracy Theories about the Coronavirus Scale.

Precision analysis of the key biological metabolites such as L-lactate has great practical importance for many technological processes in food technology, including beverage production. Here we describe a new, highly selective, and sensitive biosensor for accurate L-lactate assay based on a combination of peroxidase-mimetic nanozymes with microbial lactate oxidase (LOx) immobilized onto the surface of a graphite-rod electrode (GE). The world of people imprisoned in penitentiary institutions may never be understood by those who enjoy their freedom. The present study investigated the narratives about close relations, produced by inmates, with the analyses focusing specifically on the motive of power and the motive of intimacy, as described by McAdams. It was hypothesized that, depending on the length of prison sentence, the inmates would differ significantly regarding these motives and secondly that the motive of intimacy and the subjects' age would be significant predictors for the duration of the prison sentence.

The impact of substituent at phenyl ring of diethyl benzylphosphonate derivatives on cytotoxic activity was studied. The organophosphonates were obtained based on developed palladium-catalyzed α, β-homodiarylation of vinyl esters protocol. The new synthetic pathway toward 1,2-bis(4-((diethoxyphosphoryl)methyl)phenyl)ethyl acetate was proposed which significantly improves the overall yield of the final product (from 1% to 38%).
