Purpose Of Review: Cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) are leading causes of death and disproportionally impact historically marginalized racial/ethnic groups in the United States. The American Heart Association developed the Life's Essential 8 (LE8) to promote optimal cardiovascular health (CVH) through eight health behaviors and health factors. The purpose of this review is to summarize contemporary community-engaged research (CER) studies incorporating the LE8 framework among racial/ethnic groups.

Transgender women living with HIV face significant barriers to healthcare that may be best addressed through community-centered interventions holistically focused on their HIV-related, gender-related, and other important needs. Community health ambassador (CHA) interventions (education and training programs designed to engage communities and community leaders in health promotion) may be an effective option, though information about the natural helping networks of this vulnerable population is too limited to inform the implementation of this approach. This study uses social network analysis to describe the natural helping networks of transgender women living with HIV, their help-seeking patterns for HIV-related, gender-related, and ancillary resources, and the characteristics of potential network ambassadors.

Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm (HAP) is a rare complication of liver trauma and liver transplant, and spontaneous subcapsular liver hematoma is not frequently encountered outside the setting of preeclampsia and hemolysis, elevated liver enzyme and low platelet (HELLP) syndrome. We report a rare case of spontaneous subcapsular liver hematoma with hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm without any apparent liver trauma or recent interventional procedures of the hepatobiliary system. Although subcapsular hepatic hematoma and HAP are uncommon diagnoses, clinicians should be aware of these diagnoses to promptly diagnose and effectively treat them.

Introduction: Physical elder abuse is common and has serious health consequences but is under-recognised and under-reported. As assessment by healthcare providers may represent the only contact outside family for many older adults, clinicians have a unique opportunity to identify suspected abuse and initiate intervention. Preliminary research suggests elder abuse victims may have different patterns of healthcare utilisation than other older adults, with increased rates of emergency department use, hospitalisation and nursing home placement.

Unlabelled: Disparities in the control of hypertension and other cardiovascular disease risk factors are well-documented in the United States, even among patients seen regularly in the healthcare system. Few existing approaches explicitly address disparities in hypertension care and control. This paper describes the RICH LIFE Project (Reducing Inequities in Care of Hypertension: Lifestyle Improvement for Everyone) design.

Introduction: Latina women disproportionately report experiencing reproductive coercion (RC), a set of behaviors that interfere with autonomous reproductive decision making. Given RC's associations with intimate partner violence (IPV) and unintended pregnancy, it is critical to identify and address RC to assist women to achieve safety, autonomy, and reproductive life plans. The purpose of this study was to describe and understand the context of RC and the use of RC safety strategies among Latina women receiving services at an urban clinic, through listening to the experiences of the women in their own words.

As the role of nursing grows in healthcare, the engagement of frontline nurses in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and research is becoming the expectation and no longer the exception. Clinical nurses are in a unique position to inform and implement scholarly projects. The purpose of this staff development and capacity-building project was to increase the output of scholarly work among frontline nurses through the formalization of nursing inquiry support via designated nursing inquiry project coordinators.

Immigrant and refugee women are at high risk for intimate partner violence (IPV) and intimate partner homicide (IPH). Given the growing number of immigrants and refugees in the US and the concerns about IPV and IPH among immigrant and refugee groups, this paper aims to identify survivors and practitioners' perceptions of a) common and culturally specific risk and protective factors for IPV and IPH for immigrant and refugee women and b) areas of safety planning interventions for survivors who are at risk for severe or lethal violence by an intimate partner. Qualitative data for this multi-site study were collected from women and practitioners residing in seven geographically diverse US locations.

More than 50% of community-dwelling adults have sleep complaints. Because aging is associated with decline in physical function, coexistent sleep difficulties may exacerbate functional decline. This pilot study explored the relationships between sleep, age, chronic disease burden, and physical function among 50 community-dwelling older adults.

This study incorporated faith community nurses (FCNs) in BBMR events, hypothesizing that support by the FCN during and following the event would reduce medication related problems and improve medication self-care practices of older adults. Results describe and support the role of FCNs in brown bag events.

There has been much research conducted in the area of family violence, however, there is a paucity of research specifically addressing family violence in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. Because AAPIs are regarded as the model minority, many have the misconception that family violence does not exist in this population. This article examines Asian cultural beliefs and values to gain a better understanding of Asian attitudes towards family violence.

Gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies account for a large percentage of the cancer burden in the United States. Although the majority of cancer cases are sporadic, approximately 5% to 10% of cancer results from inherited genetic mutations. There are several hereditary cancer syndromes of the GI tract that have been identified.

Quality clinical experiences are a critical component of advanced practice nursing (APN) curricula. Historically, nursing instructors coordinated both the didactic and clinical components of a course. Increasingly, course coordinators organize the didactic component, and external preceptors working in the clinical setting function as practicum teachers.
