Background: Percutaneous mechanical aspiration thrombectomy is increasingly being employed as a less invasive alternative for managing right heart masses, including clot in transit.
Aims: We aimed to analyze trends in the use of catheter-directed aspiration (CDA) for right heart masses. Additionally, we analyzed in-hospital outcomes of percutaneous versus surgical approaches for patients with CIT and PE.

Objective: Primary liver cancer (PLC) is projected to be the third leading cause of cancer mortality in the United States in 2040. We examine the burden of PLC in the United States, stratified by sex, state and aetiological risk factors.
Methods: Data on PLC prevalence, incidence, death and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021.

Background: Despite extensive research on COVID-19 and its association with myocarditis, limited data are available on readmission rates for this subset of patients. Thirty-day hospital readmission rate is an established quality metric that is associated with increased mortality and cost.
Methods: This retrospective analysis utilized the Nationwide Readmission Database for the year 2020 to evaluate 30-day hospital readmission rates, risk factors, and clinical outcomes among COVID-19 patients who presented with myocarditis at their index hospitalization.

Background: Limited data is available regarding in-hospital outcomes of patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (HR-PCI) with Impella with and without a prior history of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Methods: We performed a retrospective study from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample from year 2016 to 2020. We identified patients who underwent Impella and percutaneous coronary intervention on the same day and excluded those with cardiogenic shock.

We report a case of hepatoblastoma in a 26-year-old man with a background of type 2 diabetes mellitus and untreated hepatitis B, initially presenting with hematemesis and a recent diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma on computed tomography scan from a different hospital and recent referral to hospice. On presentation to our hospital, given atypical presentation for hepatocellular carcinoma, histological examination was made, revealing hepatoblastoma. Treatment included chemotherapy and management of hepatitis B, although complicated by chemotherapy-induced cytopenias and tumor progression, ultimately losing the patient to follow-up after 2 years.

Background: Diverticular bleeding is the leading cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding, affecting 3-5% of patients with diverticulosis. Current management protocols include resuscitation, diagnosis via direct visualization, computed tomography imaging, endoscopic interventions, angioembolization, and surgery when needed. However, predictive factors for outcomes and optimal interventions remain ambiguous.

Introduction: In-stent restenosis (ISR) is seen in up to 20% of cases and is the primary cause of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) failure. With the use of re-stenting with a drug-eluting stent (DES), plain old balloon angioplasty (BA) use is decreasing. We aim to compare the efficacy and safety profile of DES over BA in the management of ISR.

Several factors are reported to be associated with palliative care utilization among patients with various cancers, but literature is lacking on metastatic prostate cancer (MPC) specific factors. Early integration of palliative care in management of MPC patients could increase their quality of life and overall outcomes. Retrospective longitudinal analyses were conducted using the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) data (2010 - 2019).

This mini-narrative review explores the relationship between diabetes and dementia, focusing on the potential mitigating role of metformin in reducing cognitive decline among individuals with type 2 diabetes. The interplay of factors such as glycemic control, diabetic complications, and lifestyle influences characterises diabetes-related dementia. Epinephric diverticula are distal esophageal pouches protruding from the epithelial lining of the esophagus while esophageal leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle lesions that constitute a significant percentage of all gastrointestinal leiomyomas. Epinephric diverticula and esophageal leiomyomas are common individually but their co-existence is rare. Moreover, they present asymptomatically but can occasionally present with complains of dysphagia and weight loss.

Anti-reflux surgery (ARS) is an efficient treatment option for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Despite growing evidence of the efficacy and safety of ARS, medications including proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) remain the most commonly administered treatments for GERD. Meanwhile, ARS can be an effective treatment option for patients who need medications continuously or for those who are refractory to PPI treatment, if proper candidates are selected.
