We report the outcomes of the second session of the free online open-access workshop "Computational Applications in Secondary Metabolite Discovery (CAiSMD) 2022" that took place from 09 to 11 March 2022. The first session was held from 08 to 10 March 2021 and drew the attention of many early career scientists from academia and industry. The 23 invited speakers of this year's workshop also came from academia and industry and 222 registered participants from five continents (Africa, Asia, Europe, South, and North America) took part in the workshop.

Honey composition and sensory properties depend greatly on its botanical and geographical origins. In this study, the sugar profile and sensory properties of honey samples from different geographical zones and botanical origins in Tanzania were investigated. Thirty-two samples (3 zones x 2 origins x 4 samples) + (2 zones × 1 origin x 4 samples) were collected from the seven regions in five zones as follows; Simiyu (lake zone), Tabora and Dodoma (central zone), Manyara (northern zone), Morogoro (eastern zone), and Kigoma and Katavi (western zone) and evaluated for sugar profile and sensory properties using standards methods.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread worldwide with severe health, social, and economic repercussions. Background: The critical shortage of comprehensively trained healthcare staff in Tanzania affects the capacity to deliver essential health services, attain universal health coverage and compromises health outcomes. Previous research has demonstrated that Maasai and Europeans tend to align in their ratings of the physical strength and aggressiveness of Maasai male faces, calibrated to hand grip strength (HGS). However, perceptions of attractiveness of these faces differed among populations. In this study, three morphs of young Maasai men created by means of geometric morphometrics, and depicting the average sample and two extrema (± 4 SD of HGS), were assessed by men and women from Tanzania, Czech Republic, Russia, Pakistan, China, and Mexico (total sample = 1540).

Adolescent girls' capacity to lead healthy lives and perform well in school has been hampered by their lack of awareness about menstruation and the requirements for its hygienic management. Lack of enabling infrastructure, improper menstrual supplies, and limited socioeconomic support for good menstrual health and cleanliness are characteristics of schools in Africa South of the Sahara. We evaluated school-age girls' knowledge of menstrual hygiene and identified bottlenecks that could affect policy and programming for menstrual health and hygiene.
