Assessment of attitude towards e-professionalism: Students' perspectives from a Private Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan.

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the social media practices and attitudes towards e-professionalism among undergraduate medical students in a medical college of Pakistan.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 220 undergraduate medical students from 2 to final-year MBBS, at CMH Lahore Medical College from March to August 2022. After ethical approval, a printed questionnaire was distributed among students, selected by stratified random sampling technique.

Maternal Sepsis and associated factors: A multi-central study from two tertiary care hospitals of South Punjab, Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the risk factors and outcomes of maternal sepsis.

Methods: This case-control study was performed at the departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Nishtar Hospital, Multan, and Ghazi Khan Hospital, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan, from June 2023 to May 2024. Cases were comprised of females aged 18-45 years diagnosed with maternal sepsis, and admitted during the study period.

Quality of life in cutaneous leishmaniasis patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the impact of leishmaniasis on the quality of life of patients visiting the district headquarter hospital in District Khyber, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Methods: A cross-sectional exploratory study was conducted in District Headquarter Hospital of Khyber District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from November 2019 to April 2020. In this study, 349 participants who consented were included by using a non-probability consecutive sampling technique.

Correlation between the severity of endometriosis and the occurrence of placenta accreta spectrum in the subsequent pregnancy.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between endometriosis (EMs) severity and placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) risk in the subsequent pregnancy.

Method: Clinical records of 2,142 patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery for EMs at Fujian Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2014 to January 2018, who had achieved pregnancy and were delivered, were analyzed. Baseline data, EMs stage, The Revised American Fertility Society (R-AFS) score, levels of serum indexes, and pregnancy and neonatal outcomes were recorded.

Randomized controlled trial on the treatment of Hypoferritinemia without Anemia: Comparing oral and intravenous iron supplementation among reproductive age women in Pakistan.

Background & Objectives: Hypoferritinemia without anemia (HWA) is an under-recognized public health concern. Early identification and targeted treatment of HWA can prevent unnecessary medication use and potential drug abuse. This study aims to establish clearer guidelines for recognizing and managing HWA, improving patient's outcome.

The Relationship of Fatty Liver with Body Composition Indices in Individuals with Metabolic Disorders - A Cross-Sectional Study.

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to screen fatty liver in individuals with metabolic disorders, and to investigate the use of some anthropometric calculations and body composition indices in demonstrating fatty liver disease.

Methods: The cross-sectional study included 224 participants with metabolic diseases. Anthropometric measurements of the participants were measured.

Association between Emotional Intelligence and Professionalism in Medical Students: The Compassion-Competence Nexus.

Background And Objective: In medical education, the challenging constructs of emotional intelligence and professionalism are increasingly being addressed worldwide and seem to share common characteristic components. The objective of this study was to determine the association between emotional intelligence and professionalism as perceived and self-reported by medical students and to explore the gender difference in these two variables.

Methods: It is a cross-sectional study of eight months duration, from February-September 2019, that included final year medical students at Dow Medical College through convenience sampling.

The burden of cutaneous fungal infections in a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan.

Objective: In Pakistan, the real extent of fungal infection is unknown. Our objective was to estimate the burden of major fungal diseases here to emphasize their public health importance.

Methods: In this retrospective study, the medical records (January 2019 - December 2019) of 863 patients diagnosed with superficial fungal infection (SFI) were reviewed at the dermatology department of Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) Karachi.

Association of assisted reproductive technology with adverse maternal outcome: A cohort study.

Background & Objective: To assess the association of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) conception with postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) during the peripartum and postpartum periods.

Methods: Clinical records of 11,497 patients enrolled in Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital between March 2013 and December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the ART group and the natural conception group based on the mode of conception. The incidence of PPH and blood loss at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after delivery were compared.

Objective: To probe the influence of early rehabilitation nursing on postoperative rehabilitation of patients with hallux valgus on the basis of information-motivation-behavior skills (IMB) model.

Methods: Convenience sampling was adopted, and 80 patients with hallux valgus admitted to the Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from July 2020 to July 2022 were randomly separated into control group (CG) and observation group (OG) with 40 patients in each group according to the time of admission. Patients in the CG received routine nursing and rehabilitation guidance and follow-up.

Prevalence and predictors of obstructive sleep apnea in patients with bipolar disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background & Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been increasingly recognized as a comorbidity in many psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder (BD). This study aimed to synthesize existing evidence to determine the frequency of OSA in patients diagnosed with BD and identify potential predictors of its occurrence.

Methods: PubMed, Scopus, CENTRAL (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials), and Google Scholar databases were searched for English-language papers published up from 1 January 1960 to 31 October 2023 that reported incidences of OSA in patients with BP and provided sufficient data for quantitative analysis.

Effect of COVID-19 pandemic on well child follow-up visits and vaccination: A Single unit experience from Turkey.

Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on frequency of well-child follow-up visits and immunization rate in Turkish tertiary reference hospital's Well-Child Care Outpatient Clinic.

Methods: Children aged one month to 18 years who presented to the Well Child Care Outpatient Clinic of a tertiary referral hospital in Turkey for child health follow-up and immunisation were included in the study. Children with chronic diseases or children who needed to be immunised with a different scheme due to their special conditions were not included.

Time to Reconsidering the Potential Role of Leech Salivary Proteins in Medicine: Type-II Kounis Syndrome Triggered by Leech Bite.

Kounis syndrome also known as allergic myocardial infarction, represents the simultaneous occurrence of acute coronary syndromes with allergic or hypersensitivity reactions. We present a case of a 58-years-old male who developed anaphylaxis following a leech bite, leading to myocardial infarction despite the absence of prior allergic history. He was entubated and cardiopulmonary resusciation had been performed for 10 minutes.

Microbiological Spectrum and Antibiotics Sensitivity Pattern of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) Patients: A prospective study from a Tertiary Care Hospital in Peshawar.

Background & Objective: Chronic suppurative otitis media is a fatal condition owing to its propensity for intracranial extension. The inadvertent use of antibiotics has led to resistance among causative organisms. The objectives of this study were to determine causative bacteria, their antibiotic resistance and susceptibility patterns, and their response to antibiotics after a one-month follow-up.

Impact of pre-pregnancy maternal body mass index on neonatal outcomes in twin delivery: A retrospective cohort study.

Objective: This study examined the potential link between maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (PPBMI) with neonatal outcomes in twin pregnancies.

Methods: This retrospective analysis records of 1,270 women with twin pregnancies, delivered at the Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital between 2019 and 2021, were retrospectively analysed. Women were diagnosed as underweight, normal BMI, and overweight/obese according to their PPBMI.

Efficiency of indocyanine green fluorescence assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of indocyanine green fluorescence (ICG-F)-assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: This retrospective study included 120 patients with HCC who underwent laparoscopic hepatectomy in The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from February 2020 to November 2022. Among them, 58 patients underwent conventional laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic group), and 62 patients underwent ICG-F assisted laparoscopic surgery (ICG-F group).

Prophylactic vs therapeutic blood transfusions impact on pregnant sickle cell patients.

Objective: To observe the fetomaternal outcome of therapeutic versus prophylactic blood transfusions in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) during pregnancy.

Method: This single-center retrospective observational study was conducted on consecutive pregnant women with SCD between January 2018 and December 2020. All the pregnant women with SCD were included in this study.
