Background: Post COVID-19 Condition (PCC), characterized by lingering symptoms post-acute COVID-19, poses clinical challenges, highlighting the need to understand its underlying molecular mechanisms. This meta-analysis aims to shed light on the transcriptomic landscapes and sex-specific molecular dynamics intrinsic to PCC.

Introduction: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is primarily confined to the peritoneal cavity. When primary complete surgery is not possible, neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is provided; however, the peritoneum-plasma barrier hinders the drug effect. The intraperitoneal administration of chemotherapy could eliminate residual microscopic peritoneal tumor cells and increase this effect by hyperthermia.

Complete digital pathology transformation for primary histopathological diagnosis is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. Its advantages are clear with more efficient workflows, but there are many technical and functional difficulties to be faced. The Catalan Health Institute (ICS) has started its DigiPatICS project, aiming to deploy digital pathology in an integrative, holistic, and comprehensive way within a network of 8 hospitals, over 168 pathologists, and over 1 million slides each year.

Myocardial Injury as a Prognostic Factor in Mid- and Long-Term Follow-Up of COVID-19 Survivors.

Myocardial injury, which is present in >20% of patients hospitalized for COVID-19, is associated with increased short-term mortality, but little is known about its mid- and long-term consequences. We evaluated the association between myocardial injury with one-year mortality and readmission in 172 COVID-19 patients discharged alive. Objective: This cohort study aimed to explore the relationship between the Notch signaling pathway and the degree of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Moreover, this study intended to investigate whether this pathway is related to hepatic lipid metabolism and Toll-like receptors (TLRs).

Methods: This study used real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis to evaluate the hepatic expression level of all genes studied (Notch receptors NOTCH1, NOTCH2, NOTCH3, and NOTCH4, transcription factors HES1 and HES5, and Hes-related repressor proteins HEY1 and HEY2) in hepatic tissue from two cohorts: women with severe obesity (n = 57) and normal liver structure (n = 20) or NAFLD (n = 37).

The role of physical, cognitive and social factors in pain interference with activities of daily living among individuals with chronic cancer pain.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to better understand the role that physical, cognitive and social factors play in pain interference with activities of daily living among individuals with cancer and chronic pain.

Method: In this cross-sectional study, interviews with 156 patients with chronic cancer pain were conducted across five tertiary level hospitals in the province of Tarragona (Spain). Participants were interviewed individually and provided information about the presence and characteristics of pain, fatigue, catastrophic thinking, social support and the impact of pain on their daily activities.

Exploring family members' experiences during a death process in the emergency department: A grounded theory study.

Aims And Objectives: To identify which are the needs arised from feelings, perceptions and experiences of the family members during any time within the death process in an emergency service of an acute care hospital, with regard to the assistance received.

Background: The publications refer to the needs expressed by bereaved families, who explain the support they received right after the death of a relative in an emergency service, and during the months after the tragedy.

Design: Qualitative study drawing on grounded theory based on Charmaz (2006).

Analysis of the transition process among family caregivers in a hospital in the region of Catalonia in Spain.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore and understand the experience of the adaptation process among family caregivers in hospitals, who have an active presence in hospital and are essential in ensuring proper patient care.

Methods: A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to gain a deeper understanding of caregivers' lived experiences. Data were collected using in-depth interviews to explore six caregivers' experiences of hospitalization.

Background: Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is thought to improve the symptoms of selected neurological disorders by modulating activity within dysfunctional brain circuits. To date, there is no evidence that DBS counteracts progressive neurodegeneration in any particular disorder.

Objective/hypothesis: We hypothesized that DBS applied to the fornix in patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) could have an effect on brain structure.

Body mass index and hospital mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome receiving care in a university hospital.

Although obesity is a well-established cardiovascular risk factor, some controversy has arisen with regard to its effect on hospital mortality in patients admitted for acute coronary syndrome. Methods. Clinical and anthropometric variables were analyzed in patients consecutively admitted for acute coronary syndrome to a university hospital between 2009 and 2010, and the correlation of those variables with hospital mortality was examined.

A study of fatty acid binding protein 4 in HIV-1 infection and in combination antiretroviral therapy-related metabolic disturbances and lipodystrophy.

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine circulating levels of fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP-4) in a cohort of HIV-1-infected patients treated with combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) and to investigate the relationships between FABP-4 levels and insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, lipodystrophy and levels of proinflammatory adipocytokines in these patients.

Methods: A total of 282 HIV-1-infected patients treated with stable cART for at least 1 year (132 with lipodystrophy and 150 without) and 185 uninfected controls (UCs) were included in the study. Anthropometric parameters were determined.
