Background: Both radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) are commonly used non-surgical treatment methods for lung cancer/lung metastases (LC/LM). However, there is still debate over which one is superior. The meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety between the two groups.

This study investigated the effects of heat shock protein 22 (HSP22) against doxorubicin (DOX)-induced kidney injury. Mice were randomly assigned to four groups: CON, ad-HSP22, DOX, and ad-HSP22 + DOX. Adeno-associated virus carrying the HSP22 gene (ad-HSP22) was administered via tail vein injection for four weeks, followed by intraperitoneal simulation with DOX (20 mg/kg) for another five days.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a highly aggressive and rapidly fatal malignancy worldwide. Collagen XVII (COL17A1) has been implicated in various protumorigenic processes. However, the functions and mechanisms of COL17A1 in LUAD progression still remain elusive.

Macrophages in the tumor microenvironment can polarize into M1 or M2 forms, with M2 macrophages (M2φ) promoting tumor growth and metastasis in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CESC). This study explored the effects of M2φ on CESC metabolic reprogramming both in vitro and in vivo. Results showed that M2φ secreted CXCL1, which significantly increased CESC migration and metabolic regulation.

Atherosclerosis is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. A significant increase in ganglioside GM3 content generally happens in atherosclerotic plaques causing a GM3-enriched microenvironment. It remains unclear whether the GM3-enriched microenvironment influences atherogenesis.

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are responsible for catalyzing the deacetylation of histones, which closely related to many biological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. In recent years, HDAC inhibitors (HADCIs), with the anti-tumor potential, have been hot-spots of drug screening. Although the latest studies suggested that HDAC2 might influence the metabolism, the mechanism of HDACIs in metabolic regulation is still unclear.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant human interferon α-2b (INFα-2b) monotherapy and combined therapy with entecavir (ETV) plus adefovir dipivoxil (ADV) in chronic hepatitis B patients with poor response to combined therapy with lamivudine and ADV.

Methods: A total of 161 patients with chronic hepatitis B refractory to to combined therapy with lamivudine (LAM) and ADV were randomized to receive INFα-2b monotherapy (5×10(6), three times a week) (group A) or combined therapy with entecavir (0.5 mg/day) plus adefovir (10 mg/day) (group B).

Objective: [corrected] To assess the specificity and applicability of direct PCR sequencing in the detection of point mutations in hepatitis B virus (HBV) associated with drug resistance.

Methods: Serum samples were obtained from 120 patients with hepatitis B treated with nucleoside analogus for at least 2 years to detect the point mutations in HBV genome in association with drug resistance using nested PCR and direct DNA sequencing.

Results: Forty out of the 120 patients were found to have one or two point mutations associated with drug resistance, including 17 with L180M and M204V/I mutations (42.
